    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

11" of snow at my house . . . -1 snowblower (Toro PowerShift 824). . . I had to use the back-up machine (Toro 621) . . it is not as powerful. As of an hour ago our road had not been plowed (private road)

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

The power has stayed on so far. I have not measured snow depth here, but guessing around 10" . . . Probably won't get much work done on the boat until I get back from CA.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I was hoping to get out to the boat itself and start working on the transom area. The weather has other plans. So, still a few things to do on the extension bracket, and then awaiting the feedback from the N.A. on the design review. Heading to CA on Thursday for a week . . . Then after, I...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

    Who knows how much snow . . . for my area. Weather.gov ~ 11" +/- Weather.com ~ 12-18" Accuweather ~ 6-10"

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

10˚F this morning on Cape Cod . . . Forecast for Sunday-Monday . . . . I started up the generator yesterday to make sure it will run if needed. I might have to get the larger snowblower ready for action. It is 55˚F in my 'shop', so I'll have to run some heat 🔥...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Quick Update . . . I got a quote on the Suzuki 300's yesterday  . . . Just wondering if some of the the outboard suppliers are seeing a soft(er) market ? . . . (@Scott Danforth - any industry scuttlebutt on that ?) Also wondering how many times I have to tell the re-power shops "30...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Thank you . . . So, whalelite is aka "whaleboard"? It appears that Boston Whale has been using this material in their transoms.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

@Scott Danforth . . . thank you for any information/ideas that you can provide. Not withstanding further discussion after the design review . . . I did find a poly-based fiberglass panel called GPO-3. I'm thinking the aspect of compression and tensile strength are what matters (?) :unsure...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Yes, I noticed that it is epoxy resin. So, epoxy to laminate it as well? What are the poly equivalents? Maybe I can look them up. The N.A. said I was pretty much there with the calculations I've done. Maybe some minor re-work. I've left the transom area alone, figuring it would be...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Quick Update . . . I talked with the Naval Architect yesterday. He will be reviewing the bracket design next week, mostly focusing on the structural aspects. He mentioned using some "G10" in the transom . . . I guess Coosa BW26 alone does not cut it for larger outboards. Meanwhile, I'll be...

    Swap wood panel in upholstery

I'm not sure what this wiping off stuff is all about . . . the whole idea of the wood sealer is that it soaks into the wood. I usually just 'slobber' the stuff on and set it aside to dry out for a few days. Here some pieces to my Formula 330 all soaked with the wood sealer and set aside to...

    Upholstery backing spontaneous combustion 🤔

    Swap wood panel in upholstery

You seem to be over thinking things. I usually just slobber the stuff on and go on the the next thing. BTW - don't tell anybody, but I've used Thompson's Water Seal when I was out of poly or varnish.

Maybe my turn for new boat time

@alldodge . . . Here you go . . . a F-310-BR on display last fall at a boat show . . . Pricey . . . . I have not seen many on the used market (looked quite a bit last year), but maybe there will be some coming along.

Budget friendly MEFI 1 communication tool

+1 for the Rinda Diacom. It usually pays for itself on the first issue of trouble/repair . . . rather than using the proverbial parts cannon. .

    Swap wood panel in upholstery

What ever you come up with, it will probably work fine . . . not really rocket science. I've used varnish, and I've used polyurethane. It will take a few days to dry, so plan your timing accordingly.

I know it can be hard to find the traditional oil-based paints, but this should work.
