    Help IDing Trailer

An ACTUAL submarine!? Wow, that would be pretty damned cool! Wish I had one. When I was a kid, we have a pretty big boat for awhile. Too big to trailer home. When not in the water it was in dry dock. All wooden Owens, we worked on it a lot when it was out of the water. I was a real marina rat...

    Help IDing Trailer

OK guys, I get the message. I'ma doin' it all wrong.....LOL I suspected as much, but going by what others guys were doing at the ramp and crap I read online I didn't realize it. Yesterday things did not go as planned and I may well have missed out on the last good day on the lake. Thinking...

    Help IDing Trailer

Have to fess up that this is the first time I've ever launched a boat. Stuff I've seen online suggests you should back in until the boat starts to float. Some say until the tops of fenders are barely showing. After listening to you guys here though, I'm thinking maybe I'm too deep with the...

    Help IDing Trailer

Do the existing bunks look adequate? Should they be longer, maybe repositioned? Would it be worth my while to extend the trailer? It's just common channel. I can get it locally fairly cheap. I'm not real sure what clamp on side guides are. I'm still pretty new to all of this. I see a kit on...

    Help IDing Trailer

Any suggestions on improving it? I have a MIG and know how to use it. Got a pic of your Dad's trailer by any chance? I see no signs of corrosion or rust under the paint and the trailer in general looks to be pretty solid. When new did these boats come without trailers?

    Help IDing Trailer

Does this trailer look original for this boat? It's a 71 Mirrocraft. The fenders don't seem to fit correctly and the boat is a pain to get centered on the trailer. Any ideas for modifying it to make it better would be appreciated. Thinking of making some changes to the existing bunks, maybe...

Fitting Solas Prop to '65 Fastwin 18

Thank ye Cap'n Willy! I do what I can.

Fitting Solas Prop to '65 Fastwin 18

I tried a bunch of prop shops. None had a hub, all said I was SOL. After hours of searching online only Green Bay Prop listed one for my engine. After the fact they said that some motors were slightly different, but thought I should be able to make it work. I did not really want a used prop...

Fitting Solas Prop to '65 Fastwin 18

Just thought I'd post up that if your prop goes bad on your Fastwin and you can't get it rehubbed, you have an option. A Solas # 2111-093-11P prop is a pretty good match for the original, but you have to do a little work to it. There is an internal ring that is thicker on the Solas and some of...

    Seat Cover Ideas?

So was out in the Mirrocraft last week. Finally got the Fastwin sorted out. She's making good power, but almost too much. I threw her into a fairly tight turn and slid all the way across the bench! Totally unexpected. There are remnants of some old material on the benches, but they're basically...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

Funny, but google is bringing up next to nothing for pick-up tube assembly seasense. Even less for the part no. I emailed seasense for clarification as to whether they have a repair kit for my tank. I'll update the thread when I hear back, but expectations are low. Probably not worth their while...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

OK, I see the part Jim is referring too. It is indeed on pg 76, but the pdf reader says that's page 80. So sorry for the confusion, BUT will that fit my tank? It looks like it fits the new tank in the picture. Guess I'll have to do some more googling to try to find a picture of that part. I...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

I don't know who's wasting who's time here, but that part no. doesn't exist on the page specified in the download link you supplied. Since your time is so valuable please don't waste any more of it hurling insults my way. Anybody else know of an actual thread repair kit for my tank?

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for a metal tank. So these don't rust out like the old metal gas cans for lawn mowers I take it? How come? Thicker?

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

Honestly glue doesn't seem like a great option. At the time it just seemed like the best one. I was going to replace the tank until I started reading about how crappy the new EPA approved tanks are. I'd sure like to hear more about the repair kit though. Actually on this tank all I needed was a...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

I didn't know they made repair kits for fuel tanks! I sure would have bought one if I did. How about a link? My tank is a Seasense. The only Goop I know of is for cleaning your hands. I do use Shoe Goo for many repairs, but no idea if it is resistant to fuel. Or if it would stick to the plastic...

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

Here's a couple pics of what seemed like a permanent repair. I still think if I hadn't got rough with the tank it may have hung in there. It was tight and didn't leak anyway.

    Plastic Tanks are All Junk

Just wanted to add that my hot glue repair eventually failed. It was just fine until I figured out the previous owner had somehow got a bunch of crap in the tank and I had to drain it and clean it out. Funny thing was after flipping it upside down and blowing compressed air in through the filler...
