The switch would just go between the two connections. This is just for working on it until you get a remote box.

Depends on length but 4 gauge should work.....also, no jumper cables aren't marine grade. You need marine grade on a boat or they will corrode very quickly. Marine grade wire is copper that has been tinned silver. It holds up better.

Your starter is still struggling and your partner was playing with the connection. If you don't use all good stuff your going to ruin your starter. Also, don't get ahead of yourself, fix things before you run it.....like the water pump impeller and don't run it without water. Here is the red...

    Broke powerhead bolt

What did you tork the bolts to? If it broke next to the head than when you pull the head off you should have a stub you can grab and spin it out.

It's probably the battery. Don't use the charger, under-volting is hard on everything. Get a meter if you don't have one. Have fun.

Hopefully you have put some oil in your cylinders and I would test this with your spark plugs out. You should keep your spark plugs hooked to your wires and ground them out otherwise you could ruin your coils.

Could be connections. How many volts does your battery have? And how many volts does the starter side of the solenoid have when you jump it. To make a good test of the starter, hook up jumper cables to the hot side of the battery and starter, then the neg. Side of the battery then touch a...

If that doesn't work I can tell you how to test your starter. Jump cables makes it easy.

Jump the main incoming hot to the one coming from the harness. That powers the solenoid. If the soloniod does not click then its bad. Check that and report.

Soloniod has 4 connections. Two big ones that I see are hooked up. Of the two smaller connections there should be one that you are jumping to and then the other one goes to ground. Check to see if you are grounded or put a jumper on it and test again.

Yes, negative goes to the block and the positive goes to the soloniod. You should already have a wire going from the soloniod to the starter. Post pictures of what you have.

    Engine block thread damage question

I have a different opinion here. I would go pay a visit to the prior owner and feel him out. Try and see if he knew or acts suspicious. Demand your money or take him to small class court. If you didn't pay much then whatever.
