    any blown fuses ?? if no noises then relays are not clicking up or down so no battery 12v is reaching the relays and power comes of the solenoid fused wire ... check all connections and proper grounding apply bat grd to blue- green to the tilt motor ... if ok...

    suggest you visit the ETEC ownner's board with ETEC questions... you need EV diagnostics on a w10 laptop to look-see inside the EMM computer ... first thing to look at is the fault log for active faults. blowing 10 amp fuses are frequently assoc. with bad EMM $$$ private sale...

    buying restoring older 3-10hp outboards is not really a big money maker. As a hobby I buy around 75-100$CDN I winter refurbish carb, ignition and gear oil to keep busy and sold several at $150 ... no profit really if one considers parts nad labor.... just happy boaters. no big loss...

    that is wonderful news but now he needs to run the engine in the boat and fix a more serious problem tbd. we still do not know if hand pumping helps in any way or if the screen filter on the pump was cleaned out etc.... so many options to a happy ending.

    well if you did not pay a great deal for the engine... $80 isn't so bad . aside from EBay stuff or amazon chineese OEM is your best bet . Sierra may have some.

    try a shot of fuel in the carb face... what happens ?? tried switching plug wires around ? did you pull the choke to start it ?

    how about cleaning the carb to eliminate that possibility.. nobody runs a tank at skeg level anyway in normal operation. try hand pumping the fuel and it the engines runs OK check for air leaks and fuel sqwirting or a bad pump/filter. ... I was hoping I didn't need to rebuild the...

    why not clean the carb, check fo sparks and compression (post #s here) use fresh gas and keep it way from the familiy and friends. If it did not go fro a swim it may... be fine. my stuck solid 9.5 evinrude has been a gem

    take it apart and find out why the linkage if not changing the throttle speed.. the carb is old style from the 50's and the mag plate cam #40 must rotate to push the cam follower #3 see article on older motors....yours is just newer with beter ignition but it works the same way see...

    $243 is simply stupid.....I paid about 35$ cdn few years back get the kindle version seeing they don't want to set up the printers to do reprints :-( the red book is the bible you need and now DROPBOX wan't's money from everybody .
