    Hole shot, Mercruiser 4.3L

Propping that V6 for mid-40MPH will rob lots of power for slalom. I presume the boat is 18 foot plus. I had a similar setup. I installed tabs. So tabs down, full power was better to start a skier, but not great. She also rode like a garbage scow with tabs down. Run a 17P prop for slalom...

Can't decipher serial number on Johnson Super Seahorse

VXL-11C will tell you the year. Do a search on it. early-mid 60's V4 right?

    Hard steering

Rack and pinon? Rack will unbolt from pinon. Rotary Steering? Undo the cable clamp, and turn the wheel and cable should come out of head.

I need a diagram of 1977 presolite trim and tilt

I believe the PTT motor has a bi-metal circuit breaker inside it.

    Mercury kill switch wires

Well, the keyswitch is supposed to ground the black/yellow wire when off, so it should have zero ohms when off. I think the 111 ohms is your issue. I would disconnect both black/yellow wires at the switchboxes and see what the black/yellow wire resistance with the key on.

    Mercury kill switch wires

The keyswitch will only have a single black/yellow wire. It will run to a switchbox. The other black/yellow wire on the other switchbox will connect to it in the engine harness.

    Mercury kill switch wires

I doubt you have a mercury (small m) switch on that motor. The black/yellow wires are grounded at the ign switch to kill the spark. So if they are both disconnected at the switchboxes, the engine should run and not stop using the ign key. So it sounds like one of them is grounding somewhere...

    Stand-alone tilt/trim pump

The top of the reservoir is screwed to the bottom, with a round rubber seal. Those can leak as well.

    Johnson 150 v6 carbs

Gasoline will dissolve most gasket maker material. Fuel is supposed to travel from the throttle bodies, to the carb bowls. A part of the gasket seals that passage. Sierra has been known (to me anyway) for providing the wrong gaskets in the carb rebuild kits. You might compare the gaskets...

2003 Johnson 150 port temp sensor

The 2 wire temp sensor also controls the Quickstart function, which advances the timing until the motor warms up. The fact that you do not get a temp alarm is worrying.

    Boat ladder

I hate when boat OEMs do that. My neighbor's 27 foot BW Outrage has that issue. Can you drill an access hole thru the cap, to install washers and locknuts? There are a variety of plugs, hatches etc, to cover the access holes, to clean it up. You really want bolts......

    98 Mercury 150 running issue

OK, I am out of SWAGs. Black plugs mean rich combustion or no fire, in my experience. Your carbs have a single float chamber, so flooding would affect starboard side of motor. It affects the top two port cylinders, so potentially two carbs, but only one barrel each. OK, one more SWAG...

    Mercury 1150 115hp(1977 I believe)

My IL6 had a block part number near the crankcase seam on the transfer port side. If that motor has one, and you can find the old parts diagrams, maybe you can match it up.

    Johnson 50 blowing Solenoid fuse?

Those fuses blow when the battery power is shorted to ground. The evidence points to a short in the remote. Look for the yellow/red (solenoid) wire touching the metal case of the remote. If the purple wire shorts to the metal it can also blow the fuse.

Steering bracket help 1959 lark 35

I suppose you could compare the throw of your steering system with others, but yours looks to be adequate. It is certainly fine for high speed. You look to lose some real slow maneuvering ability. If you find that other steering systems give more throw and you want so replace it...but I think...

    winner project

I had a similar boat. It had a bench seat in front of the splashwell, with fuel tanks under it. Not a bad setup as it allowed a good amount of room in the cockpit. it had 2 back-to-back seats. It has marine vinyl covering the deck. Durable and non-slip. We had a Merc 850 on it, and it was...

    Recovering Boat Seats

I think you did the correct thing. Captains chairs, back-to-back seats and others are pretty complicated, compared to their relatively cheap purchase costs. This is because they are mass produced, and very common in design. The cushions that you did were pretty simple, but custom sized. They...

    Prop swap lost 10 mph

OK, SWAG time. Is the new prop installed correctly? The hub is pushed fully into the housing? The thrust washer is installed correctly? The OEM did not change the thrust washer? The nut is properly tightened? When you say prop bore sleeve, you mean an adaptor to make the prop hub fit...

Wonder if I should go IO again or go OB?

OK Nick, I'll bite. Why are I/Os better for tubing? Alternatively, We will see if you change your tune after you replace the stuff unique to the I/Os that breaks or wears out.

    98 Mercury 150 running issue

OK time for SWAG. Are the main jets in the port carb barrels on the top two carbs missing or loose? Did you use new gaskets when rebuilding the carbs?
