Johnson 150 v6 leaking gas at idle

Sure, 2 bolts and a puller, some heat and some luck to pull the bearing carrier. Easy stuff.. not, try the other seals first...

    1995 Johnson 130hp runs crappy

22P prop might be too tall. Is that original prop, and how was performance. But check for exhaust leak into hood. Sounds like a link and synch is in order.

Anchor bumper when being towed by larger boat?

Not sure I understand the Q. In the open water, tow the boat 25' behind. Tight water lash her along sides, with some bumpers. if avail. A 23 footer should not have an anchor that cannot be stowed in the bilge.

Johnson 150 v6 leaking gas at idle

If carb bowls are warped, they need to be replaced. Some try to sand them flat...not sure about that as fuel pickup tube may then be too long. Do a search on carb bowls. Perhaps you can find reasonable cost replacements. Usually high speed jets must be swapped to new bowls. Pressure test...

Johnson 150 v6 leaking gas at idle

Gearcase is supposed to be sealed, so leaking carbs should have no effect. You likely have two issues. Plastic carb bowls warp and leak. Driveshaft, prop shaft and shift shaft seals can leak.

Marine Steering wheels are avail a lot of places. Probably not OEM replacements though. Pick something out, and see if it is compatible.

    1998 Mariner Outboard

The blue/white and green/white next to the male pin would be for trim/tilt. They would connect to matching color wires at the motor. The brown is likely for temp gauge. Another one is likely trim gauge. Not sure about the other. Your engine may not have senders for trim gauge and temp...

    Stator electrical replacement question

All IL6 motors had the terminal block where the stator wires were terminated. It was for convenience, and maybe allowed both 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder motors to use the same stator, at least for some years. If your stator wires reach the rectifier, connect them directly.

    Timimg on mercury

Generally the idle pickup timing for those ADI ignitions is 0-9* ATDC. That is the timing setting with the carbs closed, but ready to open. The timing at idle speed is not specified or important, once idle pickup timing and max spark advance (21*BTDC) is set properly.

Ebbtide 2003 Hard shifting at the control box, cables are good ?

Does the control move freely when cables disconnected? If not it likely needs cleaning and greasing. Most controls of that type are universal. Since different motors need different controls, yeah it makes a difference where cables are connected. i.e. Mercury OBs push throttle closed...

    newbie question 48 78120 A40 19P

Sounds like a standard Mercury prop. A prop for that sterndrive should be easy to find, as they are the most popular. Search for a prop wizard. Input outdrive gear ratio, boat length/weight and RPM and see what prop and pitch it suggests.

    150 4 stroke mercury - Im stymied!!

Clearly you need to make sure your fuel system doesn't have a restriction. Check antisiphon valve. See if A-S valve has its own filter. Some do. You can remove it for test. FTR- I think your mechanic was fibbing.

2000 model year Johnson J175XVSSS gearcase removal

Pull the clevis pin under the carb. Slide the shift linkage to starboard. pin will release from the hole in the top of the shift rod. Remove trim tab and all bolts. gearcase will pull off. To reinstall, the dog leg in the shift rod must point forward. Mate the driveshaft splines with the...

    1998 Mariner Outboard

Controls will generally have a 3 or 5 pin plug exiting them. There is a matching cable sold by the manufacturer, which breaks it into ring terminals. all will have Grey for tach signal, black for ground and purple for ign power. If 5 pin, tan is for temp gauge. The other wire may be for...

87 Chris Craft I/O sources of water intrusion?

Bellows were no 1 suspect. Other suspects are Y pipe joint, raw water hose, leaking circulation pump, leaking riser hose or gasket, leaking thermostat housing or large hose from pump to block. Block drains and manifold/riser drains are not leaking?

Evinrude 115 VRO RPM gauge / Warning lights not working?

Does the self check of the warning lights work? Second test: You can ground one of the temp sensors on the cylinder head and see if you get an overheat warning. If not, make sure the overheat wire on the 8pin DIP plug on the gauge is indeed grounded. If so, the wiring is likely good and...
