1973 mercruiser 120 HP no spark

Not correct Points go to negative side of coil The "condenser" should be inside the distributor and connected to the points Should be 2 wires on positive side of coil White (but might be Brown) and a Tan. White goes to key and Tan should go to starter solenoid Remove both wires and turn key...

1973 mercruiser 120 HP no spark

The voltage readings are backwards. Should see full 12V when cranking which bypasses the resistance wire (or ballast resistor). Turned ON it should be around 9V because it should go thru the resistance wire. Putting a ground wire on the - side of coil will keep the coil from ever firing...

1973 mercruiser 120 HP no spark

I'll assume you have points ignition and has not been changed Need a voltmeter and see if your getting power on the + side of the coil when key is turned ON. Then check for full 12V on + side of coil when it's cranking

    5.0 Gxi-ce 270-r misfires cyl 4&7 at full throttle

Don't see plugs doing this unless the new plugs (4 and 7) look different then others. Can check gap but don't try to adjust them, Iridium coating can be damaged I would suspect the cap before other things. You replaced it, but was it a VP, Merc or GM Ac Delco and not aftermarket? Swapping...

Tabs work best when they are close to the outside edge. Placing them near the props will give little help and can cause the prop to ventilate

ECM for 1999 Mercruiser MCM 5.0L EFI / 305 CID

Go figure, I plug in your serial number and it takes me to an older model and does show it's not in your series. Websites, have to double check them also, and it's coming from Merc OK TB5, TBI and MEFI 3 Need to get the motor timed, then see it that fixes the issue
