    ChrisCraft 20 Speedster prop question?

Welcome aboard. Need to know the RPM's and speed you were turning when you had the boat on the water, in gear, going as fast as you can go with the throttle mashed so hard your arm hurt.

1986 Mercruiser 470/170hp/3.7L Carb backfire, low vacuum, other weird issues

Missed that @cdavy000 , I would do a good cleaning of your original carb Little anecdotal information. Briggs and Stratton bought carbs from Guangzhou china for their snow engines back in the late 2000's early 2010's. The reason is so that they could be competitive (or so they claimed)...

    Outboard life expectancy

Replacement power heads are easier and cheaper for Mercury and other manufacturers for current production motors. They simply divert one of the many thousands of power heads to a box vs the assembly line For product no longer current production, those go thru a first tier or second tier reman...

Need advice ASAP 2007 Yamaha GP1300R

welcome aboard. nothing man-made is reliable. a 17 year old jet ski reliability is a function of its condition and maintenance. 80 hours in 17 years means the jet ski sat a lot. what is the compression? how it the impeller and wear ring? does it look like it was garage kept or lift kept? is...

1986 Mercruiser 470/170hp/3.7L Carb backfire, low vacuum, other weird issues

Something is wrong with your carb. It should start to stumble below 3/4 turn and die about the time you get less than 1/2 turn out All the way in should shut off all fuel to the idle circuit

1986 Mercruiser 470/170hp/3.7L Carb backfire, low vacuum, other weird issues

Where did you get a new Rochester carb? You should not be able to turn more than 2.5 turns out before the motor runs so rich your eyes water If you bought an Amazon special (chineseum carb), I would take your original cab and rebuild it.

283 stalls when engine cover closed

I have never seen a bilge that is air tight. Additionally the bilge venting should be flowing 300cfm minimum. So the motor should run to at least 4000 RPM Post pics

Need help with winterizing first boat

After you change the engine oil and filters. You drain the motor The 4.3 should also have the plug at the thermostat cross over. That will make 5 plugs Pull the hoses going to the raw water pump to drain them Check the drive gear oil for water. Change if needed. Also highly recommend...

    Prop size

Start with a compression test. Your cylinders should be between 135psi on the low end and 150. Check your weight. Make sure your throttle cable is pulling your throttle wide open No way to prop low enough to gain 1800 RPM. You have an issue somewhere

First, welcome aboard Next Why? that was 18 years ago. the Flux Capacitor isnt a real thing, so what something may have cost 18 years ago has no bearing on today.

Welcome aboard love BBO's had a few in some hotrods EFI will never provide more power or better economy than a carburetor. From an ROI point of view, an EFI swap is simply money down the drain. the only benefit of EFI vs a well tuned carb is initial startup. you dont need to give it the...

what RPM and speed were you pulling when you were on plane, fully trimmed out, with the throttle mashed as far as it would go as you tried to push the throttle thru the boat? that is the RPM and speed that is needed. If you only ever got 3200 RPM, you are either over-weight, down on power, or...
