    Thanks for this info, so worst case a $1300 rebuilt ecm and that’s it ? I think really comes down to OPs desire for plug and play for the extra hp and convenience of mpi - 357 alpha carb is 275 hp, 300 hp for mpi in alpha configuration.

    Every fall hanging upside down cursing with hot oil on my hands I wish I had spent $200 on one when I repowered... i cut off a gallon jug drop the filter into it and I can squeeze it between the manifold and the stinger pulling it out .

    i meant once you verified the timing is ok likely this is related to carb being plugged up Or some type of fuel starvation. If you get it successfully cleaned out and are feeding it with clean fuel you should be ok after that

    Back to the OP, completely disassemble the carb, clean all the passages, makes sure the fuel filter in the bottom of the fuel pump is clean or replaced, verify clean fuel supply to carb , check fuel pressure/adequate supply . I would think having verified timing the above would take care of itb
