    Post some more pictures.----Any unit on there that has 2 yellow wires going to it ??----I can see the water cooled rectifier / regulator on top of the block.----Between the relay box and flywheel.----You have to remove flywheel to get it off.

    One more time-----I see broken rings all the time.----And often on more than 1 cylinder.-----That means most folks think " the motor runs , so what could be wrong " !!-----Note ----I rebuilt the first one with broken rings in about 1981.-----And many more since.

    Bearing carrier with bearings and seals is not expensive.-----So it must come out first.---Get it out.----Drill it to weaken it.----Split it in say 4 places with a Dremel and save the gear housing from brute force.

    You have to install some wires on the breaker points.----May involve drilling the magneto plate.-----Fairly straight forward.----Or search for say a 1958 model 10 HP or a 63 model 10 HP or up to a 40 HP that did have those wires installed.---
