    My buddy has a 18 foot Checkmate, 383, drive extension and A1G1. He is easy on the stick and its a very old boat and drive is still original. I think what has saved it is its a really light boat

    Vibration throttling up is either the prop or the drive in most cases. If prop is in good condition, look at the gimbal bearing and the U joints

    Have not heard of Cryo stuff on gears, but normally the gears would last more then one life time if maintenance is done. A Alpha drive should not have massive power behind it. Look forward to the comments of better gears but maybe just a new SEI upper will outlast most of us

    New motor and 150 psi all cylinders New ECM from Merc Firing order is correct and there is no misfiring, just low power Timing is dead on correct using the timing tool per bulletin For me, not the sharpest tool Only thing left is there might not be enough advance in timing, or not enough fuel...

    Did ya by chance look inside the tank before installing? Look for some note left inside side saying something stupid like add oil before using. :unsure: Just another thought if it might get caught against the intake to cause the cavitation

    More then likely provided the cylinder is not scored inside. Cannot vouch for after market kits because I have never rebuilt a VP cylinder, only Merc and a bunch of other hydraulic cylinders on farm and heavy equipment

    Water comes from the thru hull, then thru sea strainer to Gen. Water then goes thru Gen heat exchanger and dischargers over the side

    The valve cover look gets close. Valves close and the mark on damper will be about 180* away. I say about because there is cam lobe variations. With all spark plugs out rotate crank by hand and have a wire or something in number 1 cylinder. Slowly crank it up till the wire is not pushed out...

    That's the drive serial number (alpha Gen 2) Does the light go in line with the plug wire? If so then spark gap tester maybe

    Don't see a sensor causing a 50* advance If there is an actual 50* advance seen then need to find out why. Maybe the timing light is the problem, right now no one knows, were just guessing based on your info

    When its running does it pump water out the exhaust port? Most the Gens have a string of switches that can kill the motor. Most of them a daisy chained and if one closes it kills the motor. Temp, Oil pressure, exhaust temp. Other things can be because the internal voltage is not correct You...

    There should be a fuse, but start with which Tabs are they, who made them? Also are they electric or electric over hydraulic?

    The whole motor is shaking, the steering shouldn't be able to do that. The motor has 4 points holding it secure. Look at the motor mounts

    After cycling 20 times it should be bled. Was this a new pump or another used one? When it aerates does the fluid stay at the same level after the bubbles go away? What oil is being used?

    Yes it should start even with the low compression on 4 What is the motor serial number? Have you checked for spark, and if so how?
