    should have changed the impeller when you had it apart. sand will kill the efficiency of the impeller. Overheats kill the motor. do a compression check. If you overheated enough for the motor to quit. you most likely you collapsed the pistons or scored the cylinders.

    yes, unless you changed the cam to a roller cam. you need zinc in the oil. either buy oil with zinc in it, or add zinc to oil that doesnt come with zinc

    side of the block on each side is the block drain, just above the pan rail, aft of the motor mount bosses. the heat exchangers need to be drained too. suggest a flush as well. get the factory service manual from volvo. its copywrited material
