    The rubber plugs referred to in post #1 do not have any locking tabs.---Yes oil or grease makes working on them easy.----The special wee tools ( I have them ) makes it easier of course.

    Fact-----Charge the battery.-----Have battery load tested , even if new !---Take starter apart for inspection , and ohm test on armature.----No money spent !

    Check the fly wheel key.----Post the compression values here.----There may be issues with crankcase compression.----Crankcase compression PRESSURE is what drives the fuel pump.

    Those lower units are not robust.----It is near failing and leaving you stranded !!---Take it apart now.------Finding a used one in good condition may not be easy.----New factory parts are expensive !

    That model # is on the production list !!-----But some of these are shown with a 6 vane impeller.----And when folks shop online , you never know what shows up at your door.

    Perhaps remove fuel pump from the VST.----See what can be done to eliminate this connecter.

    ???-----Go wire to wire.----Eliminate this connector.----Or a wee terminal board.

    For an outboard the transom is at an angle ( 12 degrees ?? ) -----So is the transom vertical on this Bayliner ?

    Looks like the plastic cam was lost.----Jammed in a makeshift pin to go fishing !!

    ??--on post #2 and #6------No , the impeller can only be removed by going up on the shaft !!-----The shaft simply does not pull out on these at all.
