I can not see or hear your motor.------So what happens when you operate the manual fuel pump.-------If crankcase compression is low than pump may not work.
There is very little that can go wrong with those pumps !!!------A new diaphragm fixes them in most cases.-----Yes the diaphragm is available all day long.
Those little fuel pumps mount directly over the PRESSURE pulse port from the crankcase.-----And one visible port for fuel in and one visible port for fuel out.
You do not need an ignition switch.-----If it starts / fires you might need to choke it to stop it.-----Water pump impellers need water on them or they will be destroyed.-----But if this turns out to be a runner you would install a new impeller regardless.
The rule at one time was -----Without thermostat J6J ( J6C ) and with thermostat J4J ( J4C )----So I would use a J4C.-----And check thermostat as they are often missing or stuck open.----Checked one the other day that did not open in boiling water.----If you just bought this motor install a new...
Nope-----Once the pump is primed and the boat is moving it is a different story altogether.------And I have worked on many different machines and pumps.------Pumps with 3000 HP and also 12,000 HP motors driving them.
This is why new motors with ----" push the button to start " ----Are now so popular.------In my opinion if you learn / understand how things work, you will save a lot of beer tokens.
