    Powerpacks are NOT connected to 12 volts.-----I know of motors that have started fine after battery was hooked up backwards.

    Outboard mounting problems

    Remove bracket from boat.-------Mount it where you want it.-----Perhaps modify bracket so motor is vertical.

    Prop spins in same direction in both forward and reverse gear...

    Turn the shift rod counterclockwise to get NEUTRAL>----Then turn it more CCW to get reverse.----Some effort required as there is a spring in there.

    This primer valve is only used for starting !!---It does nothing when motor is running.------It is a wonderful ( much mis - understood piece ) that replaces choke flappers.

    I would think the wood is rotten.-----Nothing but dry powder and flakes is all that is left of the plywood.-------Lower the motor down.------Put some weight on lower unit ( stand on it ) and see if transom flexes.

    Start with a compression test.----Post your numbers.----Run with a timing light 1 cylinder at a time to see if you have spark issues.

    Step # 1 on those is a compression test.-----Post your numbers.---Spark should jump at least a 3/8" gap on a test device--Run with a timing light one cylinder at a time to see if it is an ignition miss.----Could just be a bit lean on carburetors at idle.

    The primer solenoid VALVE should only be energized for a few seconds for near instant starting of the motor.----Sounds like it was wired wrong.-----Should be easy to check out.
