OK, to set timing it needs to be placed in base timing mode. Wires need to be jumpered at the 2 locations shown in pic. The correct manual for your motor is number 13. The timing setup using your manual is located in section 4B If the right connection on the distributor does not have the 2...

    5.0 TKS will not start

Going back to this comment When motor is cranking the is a purple/yellow wire which connects to the small terminal on the outboard side of the starter solenoid. This wire feeds 12V to the fuel pump while the motor is cranking. Once the motor starts and oil pressure builds up, then the oil...

Tilt/Trim Pin in outboard with 25hp

Have not removed one of these but looking at the parts I believe the nut and broken rod needs to be unscrewed. There are no keeps to keep the pin from sliding out so the rod should just screw up inside the pin and this is what keeps the pin centered.

Engine will not crank or start....

Turn key to start and grab the shifter and move it slightly fwd/rev to see if it needs adjusting/replacing. If no luck, use a voltmeter and place it on the yel/red wire on the key switch and see if you get 12V when the key is turned to start. If 12V is found, check if 12V is found on the Small...

Wiring question: Slave solenoid to Ignition coil

PO might have been using a Merc diagram and may have also had issue with ESA. Just guessing and its hard to say why folks do things. I would be inclined to put it back to original
