    The screw by the intake prevents the pinion bearing from moving up due to oil pressure.-----You can take that screw out and back in all day long and nothing will happen there.

    It will be interesting if you can pull this project off.----None of these parts will interchange without welding / machining.-------Then that single cylinder may not have enough oomph to trim the 85 HP.

    Step #1 is to load test the battery even if you bought it last week.----Then pull the starter apart for inspection and OHM test on armature.

    Do a COMPLETE inspection of the boat first.-----If wood was used in the structural parts it may all be rotten.------Don't spend any coins on cosmetics / seats / paint until the boat is declared safe and sound.----Paint is your last worry.

    The bearing is shown as a separate piece.-------So use your grinder , weaken it and remove it from the shaft.-------And have a very good look at your gears considering that bearing was shot !!!
