Nope------There is nothing wrong with the capacity of the water pump for that little V-4 motor !!-----After all it is the same water pump / repair kit as used on the V-6 and V-8 outboards is it not !----No need to do any drilling / modifications at all !!
And why did you not remove the center main bearing ?-----You remove the spring clip and the bearing falls off the crankshaft.----Just as easy to put it back on too.
I know of one dealer friend that gave up Evinrude dealer status 20 years ago with the early FICHT models.-----Refused to sell unproven technology to his customers.-----As it wasted too much time ( not paid for ) in talking to / helping people out.
Looked at a 1990 model 90 HP yesterday.-----Looked at the sparkplugs.---- Then popped off the cylinder head..----Found cylinders scored on #1 and 3.---Likely 2 and 4 as well.----Bone dry cylinders with no sign of oil.-----Winter work with 0.020" over WISECO pistons.----Nothing to it.
There you go it was a V-6 !!-----Chris 56 I think the Evinrude name in new outboards is done.-----They might do better with another name if they decide to build outboard motors again !!
What year did Evinrude market an " inline 4 " model 175 HP E-TEC ????-----There seems to be a trend towards V-8 motors for big outboard 4 strokes.-----Yamaha 425 HP for one.---
Try a set of those " whale tail " things.----Might prevent air from being sucked down to the prop.-----It is the nature of a slow moving pontoon boat with a big motor.----I do not believe raising the motor is the answer !
