    not sure what manual you are reading. the factory manual says remove the drive, undo the 6 bolts that clamp the PDS in place and remove the engine and PDS housing (this would leave a nice large 6" diameter hole) when was the last time you had the drive off for bellows change and u-joint...

    measure fuel pressure. lines running from pump to carb are steel, so you will need the test fitting. you should have 3-5 psi from the pump. fuel pressure will tell you if there is an obstruction
