    my new old 1988 ss20v

Looks good WM. I will have to borrow that idea from you on my next one. The expendable mounting plate is a smart idea , you never know what you might need in the future. Pulled the boat out into the sunshine to wash and buff it out and the more I buff ( or rub should I say since I can't find...

you know , I thought about something similar but I don't remember what they are called. You attach one half of the mount to the wood backing and the other to the gunnel and they kind of hook together . People give mixed reviews about them though. If we would have got our angles right on the red...

Customizing the backrest cushions to fit the bow .--------------- Don't know what I would do without the lightweight legs for making a table . Easily went from 4x11 to and additional 4x8 for plenty of workspace.

too bad the cushions in the bow are just set into place to check for fit and not installed but tomorrow is another day. Fire smoke so thick today it was hard to stay outside , don't know where it's coming from this time because most of the fires around here have been put out after a month of...

    my new old 1988 ss20v

This is it for now . Tomorrow I rivet the base cushion ply down and throw in the base cushions then mount the upper back rest cushions . Have more problems with the vinyl fit for the turtle shell for the engine doghouse so I will have to work that out before I can call the upholstery done...

Watermann you must be physic ! All but two of the skins are finished. Have two small ones to make that go on the front of the consoles . I went ahead and sparred the cushion base boards today but won't finish them to the extent that I can staple it all together until tomorrow. Looks like a...

    my new old 1988 ss20v

The pitman arm puller was the most effective tool that I used but I did have to grind it down to fit up inside the the pin shaft and made a little bridge for the puller to bite since it was nearly as wide as the steering arm . Worked good with a good soaking of PB and some torch work now and then.

    my new old 1988 ss20v

Well after two days of fighting I finally got the pin out of the power steering yoke at the end of the cable. What a bugger bear that was. Used an air hammer gun , a pitman arm puller, a hammer, then a bigger hammer and a torch and it finally came loose . That after pulling all the panels back...

1988 Starcraft w stuck steering cable

I have locked up steering on my 88 starcraft w a 5.7 and cobra sterndrive. My problem is that the pin at the transom end of the cable is frozen and not wanting to come loose. Yesterday I wrapped my hoses up in tin foil and turned a heat gun on the yoke and pin along with a 6" clamp as tight as...

    ghost in the machine ?

Note, when I tried to test the red wire I would get a reading of about 23 or 25 that would vanish and I could not get it back again. None of this correlates to the testing material that I have been studying or I have misunderstood it. Again , battery is disconnected and all wires are...

    ghost in the machine ?

Well you just can't kill a ghost so easily i guess. My new sender and fuel level gauge have quit working , now read over full all the time key on or off , with about 1/4 tank full. Should I have ran a seperate ground as well under the dash somewhere ans eliminated the ground as well ? Note that...

    ghost in the machine ?

Sensing wire key on ,no current key off. I am referencing the tests through a link you provided in another post for my information but I just can't seem to grasp exactly what this means . Does this mean that the voltage regulator is bad ?
