    Check your furnace filter

I can't even use the more heavy duty ones, or my system seems to cycle on the limit (gas heat). I have a semi-odd size and have not always been able to find the cheap ones easily; that's how I found out. Another Q re this, is do you know where all of them are? There may be one hidden in the...

    OMC exhaust flapper alternative.

I've got a 3" rubber pvc cap, strategically cut, on my 4.3L and it's worked fine for a coupla seasons. But it's got a remnant of the exhaust bellows underneath it or it would be a little too big. As it is, it fits perfect and is attached with a hose clamp. When I say strategically cut, I mean...

Lot more new boaters and large wakes?

Yeah, no holidays. Not even after noon on Saturday. I don't mind the PWCs jumping the wake if they stay reasonably far back; I don't like their unpredictability sometimes though. Had a couple of clueless little kids (the driver anyway; I think the little girl on back was more aware than him)...

How to tel if boat will over heat in the water

How do they feel about paddling back to the dock? Or waiting on a tow? Might not be the most conservative approach...

    Drain plug question

Nice! That sounds like a lot, but it's out now. There's lots of good info. and lots of help on here for new boaters. Park it with the bow a little high when not in use so whatever's in there will drain out.

    Drain plug question

Yes. I hate to be negative, but it's a sign there may be other issues; like, step back and see what else might be wrong before focusing in too hard on that one thing. Did the seller take you out in the boat? Have you looked in the bilge? Was it stored inside (if it ever sees rain, that goes...

    Drain plug question

Yeah, you might try tapping it with a metal tool without the wrench too, and see if that helps shock anything loose.

    Burned Impeller

Finally got to take it out today. Everything seems fine. Ran well, temp between 120 and 180, oil pressure above 40psi, etc. Did a few back and forths near the dock, stopping and checking for water in the bilge and that, before taking it out further. Had a little slow cranking scare after...

    Drain plug question

I'd be curious what's in the bilge now.

    Burned Impeller

Thanks y'all. I'll report when I find out for sure. I always do a test run on the first outing of the season, like me and just one or two of the boys as "crew". Seems extra important this time.

    Burned Impeller

Changed the impeller and housing today and ran it for a few minutes. Everything seems fine; water spraying out the weep hole (or whatever it's called), etc.. I don't think I ran it long enough last Friday to burn anything else up. I wouldn't purposely run it for 1sec like that (as I told my...

    Burned Impeller

Howdy. Thought I'd share my first start of the season incident. There was a little misunderstanding between my wife and I about the water, and I got maybe 10sec of water to the drive from the hose, while the engine ran for prob 1 to 2min at most without water. It was enough to burn the...
