    5.0GLPWTR, fuel pump question

So today we tried launching our carb'd boat, a '99 CC with the 5.0GLPWTR. Per our normal procedure (we've been out several times this year so far), I pumped the throttle twice and started the cold engine. Started normally and idled for about 45 seconds at which point the engine stopped. Did some...

    Transom mounted Transducer

I cut a 3"x3" square of cutting board and screwed the transducer mount into that and then using marine loctite epoxy, glued the cutting board to the transom. This was about 8 years ago or so and its still holding fine with zero new holes to worry about. I then zip-tied the wire for the...

    Getting leaf stains off fiberglass.

Put the boat out in the sun for a few days and the stains will go away. Short term, try mildew remover - same stuff you would use on your seats.

Milky Oil in 2006 Glastron GX 205 with Volvo Penta 5.0 GL-E

The very next thing I would do is pull the exhaust manifolds and risers and inspect them.

    water leaking under carpet

Well.... More info is needed in order to help you. What type of cover do you have? Has it rained recently? Can you trace the source of water to a side or a corner of the deck? Where on the deck is it most wet? Are you absolutely sure the water is sourced from underneath vs having made it's way...

Volvo Penta 4.3GL Water Pump Removal

Either stick your head down in the bilge, use a camera, or use a gopro (or similar) to inspect the engine compartment and see where the water is coming from.

Volvo Penta 4.3GL Water Pump Removal

My quotes were not to give you a rough time on the terms, rather to ensure we identified the correct hoses. :) I've read various threads about running on muffs, some say only for limited time periods with low rpms and others say its completely fine. Personally, I run my engine on muffs only at...

Volvo Penta 4.3GL Water Pump Removal

The hose from the "bottom left" should be your raw water intake and that should go to the top port of the raw water pump. The hose coming from the "top center of the motor" of the thermostat housing should connect to the bottom port of the raw water pump.

Riser question 97 Volvo Penta 3.0

Congrats on sticking with it, getting a new engine installed and getting it running. Post some pics so we can see what you've done. What type of marine engine did you install? If you didn't replace the risers with that new engine you need to- based on the photos the cooling passageways are very...

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

I wonder if your impeller is toast. If you ran the boat for any length of time with the hoses reversed from the schematic, that's likely an issue. I'd check it asap.

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

I would expect you wouldn't get cooling water flow. Its a pump; if the hoses are connected backwards you wouldn't be pumping raw water up from the lower unit and into the thermostat. I would also inspect your impeller now and ensure it wasn't damaged due to a lack of water and overheating.

1995 Volvo Penta 7.4GL no power

Neutral safety switch at throttle control arm out of position? In other words, the system thinks it is in gear? What about an engine cut off device at the helm that has failed? Bad starter relay?

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

Hose from engine house to thermostat? Do you mean from the water pump to the thermostat? Check out the illustration below to ensure your hoses are running correctly. #9 comes from the lower unit, #23 goes from the water pump to the thermostat, and then #7 and #8 distributes water to the...

SWIM PLATFORMS. 2001 Chris Craft 210

I have a 1999 Chris Craft 200 and I bought my swim platform from www.swimplatformsuperstore.com On their website they state that they don't currently offer international shipping but that it will "change in the future". They also state that they will work with your shipper, so maybe you can...

Hydrolock, swim platform, riser height and static water line question

I'm happy to report this journey seems to have finally ended on a positive note. We ran the boat pulling skiers today and the engine ran well with no leaks or signs of water intrusion into the cylinders. Very relieved. Thanks all for the help and guidance.

Hydrolock, swim platform, riser height and static water line question

Positive update! I filed down the mating surface of the port side riser and used an older but thicker riser to manifold gasket and it appears that there are now no leaks. I'm letting the engine sit overnight with water in the risers and will check for any signs of water intrusion into the...

Hydrolock, swim platform, riser height and static water line question

I know right? I filed and filed and got it as close as I could. At least its better than the photo above. I'm also questioning the other side now. I don't want to pull it apart just yet - I think I'll let it sit overnight with water in the riser and pull the spark plugs tomorrow to see if I'm...

Hydrolock, swim platform, riser height and static water line question

So..... I took my risers to a machine shop 6 weeks ago and just got them back today. I installed them using the newer thin metal gaskets (part number 3863191) and coated each side of the gasket with the copper-spray-a-gasket. I torqued each bolt in a crisscross pattern to 30 ft-lbs. One riser is...
