1972 9.5 slipping out of gear??

I’m assuming this problem resigns with the milky gear oil and not a bad clutch dog or gear adjustment. I immediately drained the oil out when I got back to shore. What’s next ?

Hi guys I just purchased an evinrude 9.5 ‘72. Motor runs fantastic and until it’s first run today :/ changed the gear oil last night and noticed there was a rubber seal missing from the top drain plug screw but still installed anyways. Today I took it out for the first time and it went into gear...

    1971 evinrude 9.5

yes lol, I meant tiller sorry for the typo. So you must be in gear for it to reach fast? I noticed without it in gear and the engine off the tiller handle would only go to "shift" and would not engage the carb follower arm which I believe is for the throttle. The throttle does go lower than...

    1971 evinrude 9.5

So I’ve got the carb removed and apart along with a new kit from omc. Is it possible to squirt either carb cleaner or alcohol through the high speed fixture and the inlet needle seat to clean the jets I would rather not remove them if I can to reduce the chances of that becoming a problem

    1971 evinrude 9.5

I have not ever repaired a 9.5 yet only 6hp and below. I usally set my points by Aligning the crankshaft where it says “top” to the end of the point then make my adjustments, set points, run engine, check points again. Would this be the same process when setting points on the 9.5 I’m assuming...

Compression test was good, spark plug wires look brand new and plugs. Engine looks amazing overall like it has very low hours. It started...
