    Is it OK to leave thermostats out in warm climate (s. LA) on Jhonson 88 Spl 1993

    One head bank running hot and found trash in thermo. Can I leave it/them out all together? Water is never below 50-60deg. Seems like a constant flow would be ok in South Louisiana

    on my 93 88hp special seems to be running fine but gets sudden burst of power

    What could cause this periodic sudden power burst that last only a second or two? I feel as though the engine is running fine then this happens and I wish it ran like that all the time. It does it at mainly higher rpms. Like 3 to 4500. I'm guessing timing or fuel but how would I tell? I run 93...

    I recently acquired this johnson 88spl motor and need to check water pump as part of my new owner maint. I've done most everything else and need some advice on dealing with shift linkage. I hear ugly stories about disconnecting it. Thanks!

    jonson 88 spl ? only 60 psi in all4 cyl and running fine

    I'm getting only 60,58,65,60 on 88spl motot and she seems to run fine no load I hope to put her in the water today and see but I'm told by previous owner all is well. How could this be? I also notice water in number 4. I hope that's just a head gas get. Any ideas on this guys?

    :confused: Just bought 15' Larson w/ Johnson 88spl 93 model. In doing all normal things like chg lower unit lube, spark plugs, fuel, etc I run a compression test and am getting 65,60,58,60 PSi.
