    Fuel Sender / Gauge Troubleshooting

Save yourself some trouble...your gage is bad, replace it. You already know the sending unit is working properly. Only ONE thing left that...isn't.

    Excessive Oil/Grease by Alternator area.

When was it last "good", e.g. NOT leaking/creating the mess? Is this a new thing? One suspects a front seal but as others have noted, you need to better isolate the source/area of the contamination.

    Manifold Change

Are you changing manifolds AND risers or just the risers? Pray to whomever you trust in that you don't snap off any bolts... Good luck!

Help me set up my new edelbrock 1409

You never said but...how did the boat run? You mentioned that the 800 cfm carb was "too big"; this implies performance issues of some sort? But yeah, ditch those spacers. Go run the boat with the carb "as is", do a nice, long WOT run and then shut it down, let it cool down some and pull a...

    1985 Suzuki Dt115, what's it worth?

With unknown number of hours or compression numbers, etc...probably $500 is a good figure.

    Need help finding plug wires

ANY auto supply store can get you a set of wires for your BBC...basically they are all made up of a set of two pairs of 4 lengths...short, not-so-short, medium, and long. And NGK UR4 will work in pretty much ANY BBC engine.

    propeller doubt

What outdrive ratio? The Alpha One Gen II outdrive for the 4.3 LX was typically 1.81:1. You don't have a whole lot of ponies available so you need to get baseline numbers as many people have already said. You need to be able to hit your rev limiter/or max recommended rpm...assuming 4600 in...

    Repair before installing Keelguard?

Fix it right before putting on the keel guard...would be my suggestion.

    Mercruiser. Reusing new transom seal?

As you note...it is a very important part...and some would say, why take a chance? My thought would be it never had a chance to "take a set" so you should be fine.

Where to buy new boat carpet

Wholesale Marine, BoatCarpet.com, Great Lakes Skipper, Custom Marine Carpet...are many good choices. Many have templates to match a specific boat model. Most offer several grades (and pricing!) to choose from.

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Nice work! I've helped with a few projects like this over the years...it is NEVER fun. You're fortunate that the engine stringers and transom are sound. Good luck!

    Cruise lines

My wife and I used to cruise a lot, always on Royal Caribbean...had many great times. AL:WAYS in a room with a balcony, THAT cost is worth it. These days they "get you" with extra charges wherever they can. The drink packages are ludicrous in cost...same for most excursions. I always...

    Boats from work.

Cobalts USED to be premium, exceptionally well-built boats when it was privately owned. Ever since Malibu bought them, there have been a lot of disgruntled customers due to the build quality not being what they were used to...typical story of Corporate America ruining something that was once...

    Chain worth it?

I would resist having all chain...for the reasons already mentioned. In an emergency situation where you need to cut the anchor loose, having all-chain would give me the willies!

    Waterlogged foam?

Foam would have no effect whatsoever in the scenario you describe...having foam in the hull doesn't affect the displacement of the water OUTSIDE the hull. Where did you punch the hole at? What does the boat weigh...find some scales and see the results. Rock it hard from side-to-side and see...

    Remove and Replace Light Bulb

Yeah...looks like a 'wedge' bulb, probably a 194. Sometimes you have better luck with a slight twist from side to side. Wrap a piece of masking tape around it and give it a hard tug. I replaced my dash lights that were this style with bulbs from...

    Prop size question

Pretty sure that first number is 48 not 18! Need to know what ratio your outdrive is...and if your drivetrain on the other boat was the same. What was your WOT rpm on the 'toon? I suspect you have around a 1.85:1 outdrive ratio, which if so, the 19" pitch prop should be good, unless you are...
