No dipstick on 1989 era 3.0L?

Usually so you can discover a leak just before it's too late in my experience.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Based on what I've seen with the current crop of 5200 I used... I wouldn't trust it to not shrink. I think Scott may have some choice things to say about it too. I switched back to boat life for stuff like that.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Silverton also installed their garboards on the bottom of the hull, installed from the inside much like how Scott showed. Imo, that's the way I'd do it.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Yeah, the last "big" change was the transition to euro styled hull/transom. Regardless, good lines are good lines. Ted's boat has fantastic styling. 4 winns, just as an example, primarily exists because of their design department and what ever cocktail of drugs they were on in the 80s penning...

    Lithium ion batteries

Yeah the 14 is that magic number it seems. I'm still tossing around the idea anyway. A portable power station would do 90% what I want it to do. It's just a custom build is more elegant and seemingly cheaper too.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

So I guess you can say you added a wee bit more running surface?

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

My thought on why they didn't was simply because at the time, the viability of outboards on a "big" boat wasn't necessarily there. You only really started seeing that come up the last 15 years or so I think. And higher HP outboards that are reasonably light are a relatively new thing as well...

    Lithium ion batteries

Hey @bruceb58 I have a (probably dumb) question for you. My house charging setup on the 330 has a multi configuration charging system on it. One of the promariner pro nautics that you can build a custom curve for or use one of like 8 built in profiles. One of those is lithium. Even years back...

    Lithium ion batteries

All you really do is build a better idiot until eventually you just remove the human from the equation. I see it every. Single. Day.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

If it helps, my fudge factor for resin was around 40%. I had 2 gallons left of the 35 I ordered. The last few layups it was getting a wee bit close for comfort. All that said, some lay ups left a half inch of resin in the bottom of a quart mixing cup. There was probably close to 3 gallons of...

Mercury Tempest, Turning Point Mach 3 or Michigan Wheel Apollo?

Any movement or direction you're leaning?

The calculation just drifted a wee bit is all.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I have what may be a dumb question... by using the drop cloth, does that act as a surface air inhibitor and allow the surface to fully cure? And if that's the case do you have to prep those areas between layups or is the unwaxed still good to go despite not being tacky?

95 Sea Ray 230 Sundancer stringer repair

That wheel is death trap (only thing that hurt me doing my resto)I used 2 cutting mine to a shell. :p Rips down a lip flat and cuts out ply nearly instantly. One time I placed it down before it stopped and it bit me. The other it kicked. Neither was deep but it was a reminder. Grinders are to...

DeWalt corded drill DW106 Type-2 keyless chuck, bits slipping out?

I have both. We have a couple larger cordless SDS drills which are convenient... but if you need to spend all day on a job the corded usually is better as you need to swap out batteries every 20 minutes or so otherwise. On the smaller stuff... I'll start WW3 before I give up my cordless. I...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

More than likely for a brass garboard. Silicon, 5200,4200, boat life... anything they had open at the time most likely.

    Lithium ion batteries

Just to add... don't use the BMS as a crutch/rely on it to constantly save you. It's a safety. I've had a few responses to homes (well what was left of them) where people just outright abused batteries and uh... well fire. Granted, this was dozens of offenses and frankly Darwin always wins...

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

I only had a half inch bit on hand so I prayed when I did it. Ran a bur through one hole to clean it slightly. But if the assembly slid all the way on by hand, I figured it was good. Knock on wood, no issues... yet.

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

I was too cheap to buy the drill guide so I drilled a block of wood on my press the same size as the bit and used that. (obviously making sure it was square first.

Maybe my turn for new boat time

So when are you testing? :)
