    MCM 7.4 oil

BBC didn't get roller cams until the Gen VI motors in 1996. So the OP's 1990 Mk IV motor is a flat tappet motor

How do I safely remove anti-siphon and intake line?

Being a plastic tank, make sure you have a backup wrench on the hex insert if you try unscrewing the pickup tube

Rant: Can't catch a break with weekend weather...

It's May in the Midwest...... It may be 70 It may be 30 It may be raining It may be snowing When I lived in Wisconsin we would drop the boat in the water in March. As long as the air temp was above 30. Sometimes we would be wearing snowmobile suits If you are not going swimming, as long as...

    MCM 7.4 oil

It's the only oil left with enough zinc Quicksilver 20w-50 does NOT have enough zinc for a flat tappet motor A flat tappet motor requires 1200-1500 PPM of zinc or more Quicksilver has about 850PPM. Not enough to support a flat tappet cam Rotella T4 15w-40 still has 1200PPM of zinc and...

    MCM 7.4 oil

I would run Rotella T4 15w-40 diesel oil to get the zinc. Flat tappet cams need zinc You will be changing oil every year or 50 hours anyway. Full synthetic is not needed, won't hurt, but not needed.

    Aluminum boat leaking

Never fill the boat with water. That's an easy way to collapse the trailer and dent the boat by adding many thousands of pounds of water

    Aluminum boat leaking

On an aluminum boat, the leak could be at the front of the keel strip and enter the boat at the stern If you have livewells, the plumbing could be leaking, especially if the plastic fittings are 15 years old or older

    Question on cap removal

I did 5 cheap ratchet straps. 2 in the back, 2 in the middle, one in the front. Just walked around the boat, tightening one at a time, rasing each strap 2-3" Total weight is about 300# if you have the windshield still attached. Not much weight They are FLIMSY though. Think of a pool...

    No Vin for Trailer

They need the weight of the trailer for registration purposes. I would call the service department at the trailer manufacturer and they can provide you an email that has the weight there should also be a second location of the VIN on the trailer.

    Exhaust manifold discovery?

y'all know the OP has a 5.0, not a 4.3, and he admitted to not winterizing properly because his boat was on a lift, etc back in post #7 and #9 and even in Texas, temps dropped to block busting depths. and he stated in post #7 that he put in a Quicksilver reman as good forum etiquette to close...
