    I would build a cradle for the boat, then pull the cap off. the hull will be floppy without the cap and you need to hold its shape. I used ratchet straps to the ceiling rafters in my pole barn on my last de-cap used an a-frame gantry hoist prior to that.

    maybe find a different mechanic or turn your own wrenches. Cables last about 20 years disconnect the cables from both ends. you should be able to slide the inner wire with your thumb and fore-finger.

    you can do it without removing the pan, however its about 10x times harder. or just pull the pan, pull the adapter, remove the seal, clean up the adapter, install new seal, then re-install everything.
