The bearing on my upper vertical shaft broke, so I'm going to need to remove the remainder of the broken off bearing. Alpha One Gen One Merc (Photos Enclosed). Upper Gear Case Bearing was Destroyed Sterndrive. Need help with part # Merc Alpha One Gen One.

Thanks for the info. FWIW, that clicking noise was most definitely without a doubt the coupler. The sterndrive was removed before I removed the engine, and still made that clanking noise. So I replaced the coupler and the noise vanished. The coupler was loose because of an out of aligned engine...

    Mercruiser 4.3L Will Not Start

No, if you sprayed the carb with carb cleaner or starter fluid, and you had enough spark, it should kick over.

Did you try spraying Carburetor Cleaner in the carb. You could have a fuel issue. I'd try that first.

Removing Castle Nut or Retainer Ring on a Mercruiser Alpha One Gen One Sterndrive.

No need to replace the prop shaft seals or the carrier bearing o ring. It passed the vacuum test w flying colors. I'm so happy I didn't have to take that castle retainer ring off. That would of been aggravating.

Pressure/Vacuum Test Lower Unit Sterndrive Merc Alpha One Gen One.

I will be replacing the lower vertical oil shaft inner seal. As the upper inner seal looks pretty good. I'm looking for a part # for that seal if anyone knows the correct part #. It's the smaller inner lower oil seal.

Pressure/Vacuum Test Lower Unit Sterndrive Merc Alpha One Gen One.

Further, I had to hold/plug in this small oil passage seal to successfully perform the test. Luckily, I figured it out after the unit wasn't getting any pressure to accomplish this test. I didn't know that. You learn something new every day.

Pressure/Vacuum Test Lower Unit Sterndrive Merc Alpha One Gen One.

This is where the liquid was draining out when I used the soapy bubble test in the carrier bearing/ prop area, So I'm thinking that the gear oil definitely was coming down from the upper unit and coming out of the prop section.

Pressure/Vacuum Test Lower Unit Sterndrive Merc Alpha One Gen One.

I just did a pressure/vacuum test on my lower unit and the results were good, as I'm very pleased. I did a 15 lb. Test and the vacuum held up fine. No leaks no bubbles. Question - How long do I do a vacuum test for? I did my test for 30 minutes. Do I need to go longer? If that is...
