    seems Motor wouldn't crank but solenoid clicked. I felt and heard the solenoid operate so the switch itself should be ok no ?

    if you have not removed and cleaned all main power connections on the solenoid......battery starter etc... replacing the starter would not be my first step. high current drain is needed by the starter and non-operation can be a simple current flow issue across oxydize surfaces...

    they only serve to plug things ... some JB weld would probably be good. a bit of pre-stuffing follwed by a touch of baking soda and crazy glue will instantly turn it to stone like material.

    seems the top dime size plug is generally aluminum whereas the actual lead plugs are BB sized inserts and used to seal certain passages normally not fooled with.. by me anyway.

    what is... I rebuilt the carburetor thoroughly ..... did you pull the top dime size plug and clean the low speed circuit incl. the VERY narrow side channel that sucks fuel from the lower carb bowl half. the upper half has a very small passage leading fuel to the top chamber wher the point...

    the primary coil wire to the points will sometimes stick out from under the coil and rub on the rotating crankshaft and eventually ground the wire killing the sparks. engine frame meaning the engine ph. boot ohms to engine block must be 4-8kohms approx. depending on coil...

    points point points..... must be super clean. burnish new points wash with carb cleaner and blow dry . disconnect the kill wires to the front push switch in case they are shorted boot plugs to frame must be 4-8 kohms tuck coil wires away from the shaft

    see old style carb problems on the low speed section where fuel drips down at idle if yours is not a coil issue to solve .... the carb's LS section needs the top plug taken out with a small drill hole and pick. clean the small drip holes and all passages and reinstall a spare plug...
