    btw .. the word TOP does not mean TDC it means the cam top side must be on TOP.... the hight point of the cam lobe is not TOP...!! tdc high point of the cam is where you set .020 gap but the video does it better

    yep... price went up....OEM is even more $$$$ 5 gals of skying gas... was $2.50 .... now 25L is $40 thankfully I don't water waterski anymore at 73 :-) both my back and my wallet would break

    I use a 1/4 inch impact driver on the big bolt . the weight and inertia of the FW allows the extractor to pull up the fw without the FW rotating

    the slot seems widenned but if you push it down manually it should fit and line up properly ... if the slot had been damaged that is something else ! be careful not damage the rub blocks as you fit he camlobe back down .!

    i think the cam lobe is spring loaded removing the FW allows it to come up a bit ... not a problem coil looks ok make certain the oiler wick is in and oiled 1-2 drops

    stick a screw driver (small) into the top cyl. feel & position the top piston as it reaches TDC. check your timing marks they should line up

    motors are sold for good and bad reasons.... upgrades, age,, loss of interest, granpa died.... and seized solid like mine I paid 50$ ...cdn ! with the break-in instructions still stuck on the side. after 60 + years

    did you try rotating the side knob which limits the throttle handle rotation this used to set the low limit to keep the engine idling properly rather than dyding out at to low a RPM rate. . when the idle is set properly just use the kill button switch to stop the engine.

    2 theories.... old ones are built better ...some are 60 years old and still run great if you don't mind an oldy parts available easy to fix basic issues like ignition carbs etc... new ones are better probably lighther, use less gas run at 50/1 oil mix but a 2 stroke is a 2 stroke...

    Canadian Tire has their brand... don't know what multi-purpose oil is but just use the proper gearcase oils which have ..apparently special components to tolerate small water intrusions.

    yes very sexy but any N.O. switch will do even a wireless one but you need a battery to get it to work (the one for the depth sounder is fine) choking works to :-)...

    don't mess with the 50 year old design... any "normally open" push switch can be used to kill the magneto by shorting the points... lots of them on amazon
