    my 75 ETEC 2005 mixes xd-100 directly in the fuel line to oil lubricate the injectors andd HS pump .. that feature was later taken out after 2008 or so .

    better stock up on oil... with gaz hitting 8$ a gal oil prices will surely explode if it hasn't yet . I hear dock cruising and VR parking are the new trends....

    dead is frequently synonimous with easy fix.... follow the current bat & grd to engine +12v gpes on the selenoid and Grd on the frame follow +12 on the fat +12v post of the selenoid where a smaller wire sends +12v to the key switch if no bat+12 on the key switch work backwards to...

    step 1... if you turn the key to start does it click at all now .... clicks come from selenoid or choke coils (if you have a push to choke key ) try pushing the key in. keep shifterin NEUTRAL have you inspected for fuses ... good bad ?? seems there is a 20 amp in the harness...

    seems like low insulation ...aside from changing parts and checking your installation you could try some of the special silicone used to repair old style flyback transformers in tube tv's (although most are gone to join DODO birds) Electronic shops should have the stuff...or amazon
