    you can do it yourself. put a piece of 1/4" plywood between the driveway and the skeg. lower the drive, remove the pins, remove the helmet pin and rotate the helmet up, remove the shift cable pin and retention plate, pull the 2 bellows clamps and the hose clamp, then pull the drive up and back.

    that is not the original distributor. that is a distributor for a manual transmission nova or a manual transmission chevelle. you need to remove that bomb fuse and install a marine distributor.

    you want a truck version as the car variants have the wrong cam. however make sure its not u-joint knock or something else. so pull the drive first

    BTW, 3.875" bore and 3" stroke is 283, 3.875" bore and 3.25" stroke is 307 move to a 4" bore and 3.25" stroke and you have 327

    no. you can use A series (for diesels), B series (aluminum for petrol engines), C series (stainless versions of the B series), and the J series (new design supposed to replace the B series.

    The motor has the same architecture. The same bad head design. The same bad combustion chamber. Your old points dizzy was set to 4 degrees of base timing with a maximum advance of 24 degrees for a total timing of 28. The est dizzy will adjust up to 28 degrees.

    Timing with est is -1 degree ,( the Dizzy takes it from there). Max timing on an inline motor is about 28 degrees

    The 3.0 is limited on how far you can advance the ignition. Exceed the limit and the motor eats itself
