    however low volume plastic parts cost more than low volume metal parts until you get over the 250,000 piece part range once you factor in tooling, etc.

    buying the new parts is fixing the cowl. plastic parts last a maximum of 15 years, that is the nature of plastic parts anywhere near an engine or exposed to UV

    I would blow out the vent line. disconnect vent line from the tank, and blow the debris out. there should be no backpressure.

    If you have the old shaft, you can cut the end off to use as a guide. or find a socket the same size as the shaft, push in a bit to hold the lip on the seal open and guide the shaft in.

    if you have two kidney bean holes where the forward holes are 1.75" and the aft holes are 2.25", then you have a spreadbore. if you have two slots, both 1.75" wide you have a square bore.
