    Single point drain tech tip

Im convinced that the engineers at Mercury that designed the single point and 3-point drain systems have stock in GM crate motors. Good advice BT

    73' mercruiser rewire

The amp meter goes in line. However they are limited to how, much current they pass. To bypass, just tie the two wires together. Check out the stickies in the electrical forum

    73' mercruiser rewire

since you are re-wiring, I would ditch the amp meter and use a volt meter. main power from motor to key switch is 10 gauge. everything else is 16 gauge. are you updating the ignition or keeping the points. the resistor wire in the harness can be bought at napa.

    Mercrusier sterndrive ratio question

AD answered the lower issue. I though you were swapping the whole drive. to answer your question - really easy. only Chrysler had a 225 and it was mounted at a 30 degree angle GM only made the Gen 3 inline 6 in 194, 230, 250 and 292, only the 250 (165hp) and the 292 (185hp) were ever...

    Scotch Guard on Sunbrella

I used both. used the Starbrite stuff for many years before the 303 came out for marine products about 7 or 8 years ago the only thing that killed any of my Sunbrella covers was a 1500 mile trip behind a box truck where the cover was flapping enough against a ficus and some household items...

    What's too old to consider?

if your not looking for a project, buy a new boat with a warranty. fiberglass recreational boats are designed to last 15 years with minimal maintenance. yes, while many boats have a service life that is longer, expect to start to have projects at 15 years as systems start to fail.

    Mercrusier sterndrive ratio question

with a 1.5:1 ratio vs the 1.65:1, you need new prop or a new gear set. the 1.5:1 is generally set up for a V8 and the 1.65:1 for a 6 cylinder.

ran my home-made parts washer with mineral spirits for 20 years. the guy I sold it to may or may not be using it yet it was a big stainless sink sitting on a 20 gallon oil barrel with a carter electric fuel pump and two spin-on fram PH8A oil filters. I used a battery charger and old battery...

Should you polish a Prop or not

run it in sand at low tide, it will polish them up. other than that, polished or not polished, doesnt matter enough from an efficiency standpoint to worry. a nick on the leading edge has more effect than if you polished the whole thing to a mirror finish or sprayed it with primer and threw...
