Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

How many layers of glass is everyone putting on the transom and stringers? I have 2 csm and 2 1800 layers. I thought I had 1808 but it is csm free. I will say the 1800 goes on well except for the edges of the fiberglass , as it unthreads easy.

Can I use my wood flour with poly? Also I see everyone using plywood for the engine mounts. Would 2x8 stacked on flats and epoxied together be ok? I have an abundance of 2x's , not much plywood at the moment.

Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

Well the stringers are bedded and the transom cut. I decided to use a hole saw from the outside first for the steering notch outs. Ran out of Cabosil. I used 2.5 gallons of resin so far. No glass work yet. I will say I like the milled fibers. Very easy to work with.

Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

Well my milled did not come today, so I ended up with chopped glass. What a pain that was to work with. I will use the milled for bedding my stringers when it comes. Rain for tomorrow and possibly Friday. Hence the impatience to put the transom in today. Thanks to my son the install went...

Do most people tab the transom , then the stringers in? Then the bulk heads? Or everything at once? I was thinking to tab in the transom first. then the stringers and last the bulk heads and ski locker floor.

Thanks, Well I finished the grinding to tab in the stringers and transom. 8 hours of grinding and 30lbs of fiberglass dust. This is the first fitting of the stringers. I will throw a laser level on them to trim the tops. Originally I was going to put the new floor on the old floor tab in place...

Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

Well after almost a month , I got some time to grind the bilge and transom. The gel coat was at least 1/4 inch thick. 4 hours later I have a good base for the new engine bay and transom. Does stitched mat have any strength , or is it just for binding the fiberglass cloth in layers?

Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

My span is 30" but no supporting ribs. The original floor was 3/4" but I was thinking to go lighter, But perhaps keeping it 3/4" would be better. Right now my suppliers for glass and resin are running short , and the lumber prices go up daily. As most repairs start out as a small repair....then...

What is the consensus regarding a below deck ski locker? I was thinking of filling the void with foam. Was thinking to build a wake tower with brackets for skis and boards. My thinking is that the least amount of holes in the deck....the better. Have I overlooked anything ?

Advice on transom , stringers and floor rebuild

I have been reading that replacing the stringers on a roller trailer is not a good idea. I am at the point of grinding down the old stringer tabbing . I decided to look under at the hull.....needless to say , The rollers are making a small dent in the hull. No cracking in the gel coat. So ...
