    Tilt/trim switch dealer

The rocker switch in some 20+ yo throttle levers simply is not available. Rather than replace the entire control I took it apart and removed the bad switch. I cut a small plate from aluminum flashing to fit the recess where the switch was, a little oversized so it 'stuck' when pressed into...

How do I see if my jet ski is cooling itself

I believe the telltale exits the back on that Seadoo where it's difficult to see. My Kawasakis have the exit on the right rubrail near my foot. My wife's ski always had a strong stream but mine was about half and I had to keep an eye on temperature. That water was often steaming and I couldn't...

    Help with Bimini top frame

Is the frame tweaked with the fabric removed? If the cover wasn't laid out symmetrical and square it will distort the relatively weak frame.

    Force 5hp (1990) no telltale?

A "fatal flaw" in my opinion. Between missing a useful p1ss stream & no reverse I guess the Force 5 isn't "the one". Search continues.

    Force 5hp (1990) no telltale?

Followed me home from a local flea market last week. Low price & very clean so I thought I'd take a chance on it. The carb had been worked on and just put back together finger-tight. I cleaned it up and put a repair kit into it and now it runs. It probably needs some final adjustments but I...

Hey S.E. Michigan--where's the BEST place for boat & motor parts?

My post got moved. Looks like I should have asked what's your favorite place for "non-repair" motor parts. Not sure what that might be. Fuzzy dice to hang on the tiller?

Fuel line connector on older Chrysler Tote Tank

I know this is an old thread but I just went thru this exact problem so I thought I'd share to help the next searcher. I found my aftermarket-but-high-quality female connector has TWO problems working with the male half. 1 - the fitting doesn't quite go on far enough to lock on the groove...

Hey S.E. Michigan--where's the BEST place for boat & motor parts?

Who has consistantly amazed you for always having what you're looking for? Or at least understanding what you're looking for... With all the lakes, boating, marinas, etc in the Detroit area there should be some gems worth supporting.

    1990 Force (Merc) 5hp carb source Q

Who do you trust to get parts for these oldies? When I Google that tillotson part number I get several "not found" sites, and ones that look to be redirects (or identical copies) of another site. And I do 'get it' about junk from Amazon but I've had nothing but good results if parts and sellers...

    1990 Force (Merc) 5hp carb source Q

I nabbed a 5hp Force 52F90A (1990) at a local flea market yesterday. $40 and it is clean inside and out, no corrosion and paint is nearly 100%. It has strong compression & spark. Seller claimed "it may have carb issues". Yes it does. I put it in a barrel and rigged up fuel to it. Was able to...

Need to rebuild trim unit on 2000 Johnson 40

Finally got my service manual back so I jumped into this overhaul. Went well, although there are definitely issues with the seal kit. It works.

Need to rebuild trim unit on 2000 Johnson 40

I've bought a seal kit from 5-Star (eBay) that's allegedly correct for this single-ram trim unit but in reading comments & reviews I see a few complaints of wrong-size O-rings in the kit. Had anyone here done this job? Should I be concerned? There's def the possibility that the complainers were...

Transferring fuel from truck to garage to dock to boats (PITB)

I have 2 boards I cut to turn the steps into a ramp. Over the 4th holiday I took my just-filled 25 gallon caddy down to the dock and when the wheels went over the crest of that ramp that 200 pounds just about ended the party for me. Hence my search for a better way. At the very least I'll use...

    Bimini Top Replacement?

BTW I found a "bandaid" fix for the sagging between the bows. The new cover on my old frame was tight around the perimeter, but sagged in the middle. The tension around the edges forced the bows down into the zippered pockets. To get rid of the sag I needed to raise the middle bows to push the...

    Bimini Top Replacement?

I think it's good quality coated fabric--it's just much thinner than my OEM top that was very thick & heavy. I've had a Pontoonstuff cover on my folded top for a couple years and it still looks brand new. Same material... No fading... Good zippers.

Transferring fuel from truck to garage to dock to boats (PITB)

I'm too cheap to spend $150 on a 12v drum pump for gasoline--I'm certainly not buying a 100-gallon tank + pump + a pickup truck to haul it. AND there's no place to put this fantasy rig that doesn't suffer the same concerns with hose length and static buildup. IF these things aren't a problem...

Transferring fuel from truck to garage to dock to boats (PITB)

My lake doesn't have a marina so I'm in the habit of lugging 5-gallon gas cans down to the dock to fill my tank. Now that I've added 2 jetskis to my toys it's become a much bigger problem keeping enough fuel on hand, and getting it down to the dock. Last year I bought a gas "caddy" to roll 22...

    Pontoon helm

On my pontoon I think the plastic shell is just a pretty cover over an unattractive plywood "cabinet". I'm pretty sure it's a completely closed box with cutouts for steering, radio, gauges & switch panel. Behind my steering trim collar is plywood covered with the same vinyl that covers the...
