    3.0L differences

Ran the boat this weekend and it runs great after starting. The miss I thought I fixed is still there. It’s only after startup for a second or two. Enough to know it’s hitting on 3 but then clears up and is fine until the next start. Engine runs up to 4,400 if I want it to and MPH is right...

    '77 Holiday Transom

Medium density overlay. It’s got a resin composition top and bottom. FWIW, run of the mill marine plywood is AAX, you can use down to CDX if you have careful selection. That is a C side, a D side and the X is exterior. So AAX is 2 great sides exterior

    Contour maps?

I’ll have to play around with it. I didn’t think I saw a card in it but it could be. Would be nice if it’s there. The previous owner was a lake Erie walleye fisherman so the card for that should also have NY lakes on it as well I think

    Contour maps?

Where is the best place to launch out of? South shore boat launch is closest to me, but didn’t impress me when I checked it out. Snug harbor I also checked out but it seems like they cater to race boats and high dollar boats.

    Contour maps?

My lowrance I’m pretty sure is a similar vintage.. both have maps, but no contours. It shows the body of water and where I am, and I can track myself to a pin back to the launch ect… I normally use the Lowrance as it’s easier to see

    Fluctating Voltage

Either one of those places should have battery voltage. To the battery itself probably easier

    Fluctating Voltage

Old style non computer controlled alternators, be it internal or external regulated, marine/industrial or automotive will charge at between 13.5-14.4 VDC. The voltage fluctuates based on the load. There can be some ghosts in the system due to corrosion and voltage drop. Quick test jumping...

    Contour maps?

I have an older Lowrance HDI 7 and a Humminbird Helix 5 gps. Both I do not know the exact models. The Humminbird is fairly new but not latest model. I tried to figure this out but only got more confused. I want to get contour maps for Cayuga lake and Onieda lake. I can’t figure out what I...

    3.0L differences

I bought some pigmat to jam up in there for this coming trip this weekend. That’ll tell me how bad it’s leaking. Kicker runs most of the day anyway so not gonna run many hours on the 3.0l anyway… wife and I were talking about how she really doesn’t like the new boat because the cabin makes it...

    3.0L differences

Oddly enough can’t look up industrial parts from our system. But I can find… and locate an AC Delco master cylinder for my ‘51 Plymouth

    3.0L differences

Yeah I know it could be the umbrella seals

    3.0L differences

If that was all… of course. But #4 is also severely oil fouled and 1-3 were clean. It had a slight miss at idle which I fixed with new plugs but it’s going to happen again judging by #4. It runs decent now though.

    3.0L differences

There is a mid 2000’s complete bobtail on marketplace at the moment. I’m debating looking at.

    3.0L differences

I’m simply thinking of finding the newest engine I can and dropping it in. Transom assembly is actually in good shape. I do have a good gen 2 transom assembly but it’s from a 4.3L and I don’t have rams or anything else for a gen 2. I have a good spare gen 1 Alpha and a spare MR1 drive that I...

Late 70's to Late 80's - Worth shopping for?

I would say probably. That’s a major risk and liability for them should you not take it

    3.0L differences

I noticed while doing some maintenance that my new boats 3.0L has a fairly decent oil leak from the rear main, and I noticed doing plugs that #4 was severely oil fouled. I have a 1988 3.0L that is solid and mint running however my wife now wants to fix the boat that it’s in. It would be a direct...

Late 70's to Late 80's - Worth shopping for?

Stuff is available and currently not expensive. The OEM stuff will soon fade away though as BRP quit making Evinrude stuff. They will eventually no longer be interested in making the parts. Sierra and others should stay around for the foreseeable future

Looking for my first ski boat

Probably not the best as a dedicated ski boat but that type of boat for sure has people skiing behind them every summer

Looking for my first ski boat

$16k should buy a decent mid 2000’s to early teens bowrider but it’s going to be hard to find one with more than a 4.3L

1982 Starcraft Questar 191 (Volvo Penta AQ140) - Battery voltage drops to 8V when starting, cables get hot

Grounds and/ or a faulty starter will cause that issue as well as a bad battery. Take everything apart and clean up all your terminal connections
