    2005 PLSOR cuts after starting

Nope. Not on the powerpack, not on the diagram. Y/R starts at ignition switch, runs to shift interlock and then aft to solenoid. Nothing else is connected to it as far as I can see.

    2005 PLSOR cuts after starting

None of the above. I have other reasons to rule that out, too. Willing to bet a case of beer it is electrical.

    2005 PLSOR cuts after starting

This is interesting. R/Pu+Pu - ignition and power to dash. R/Pu+Y/R - crank. Is powerpack really feeding off Y/R while cranking, and how - because on this model Y/R ends at starter solenoid?

    2005 PLSOR cuts after starting

I did disconnect ignition switch and jumped R/Pu, Pu, and Y/R directly. Checked B/Y (kill) for ground shorts Not sure what jumping at motor would tell me that I don't already know.

    2005 PLSOR cuts after starting

The mystery deepens. Stator coils are in specs per factory manual. I'll probably wait until oscilloscope gets here so I can detect what in the world happens to voltage and when.

    2005 PLSOR cuts after starting

Hm. Apparently there is only one fat cable from batt+ to the solenoid. From there, three red wires branch off — to trim, reg/rec, and the brains. I would expect the brains to remain energized regardless of what the engine is doing, unless there is some stator-dependent circuit I am overlooking...

    2005 PLSOR cuts after starting

More problems with J115PLSOR 2-stroke. Starts fine, but the moment I release the starter switch, it dies immediately. What gives? What I know so far: Not the ignition switch — same behavior even when bypassed completely. Not the kill circuit — checks out fine. Not fuel-related — it dies...

    Water temp or head temp?

So I got that dual-temp gauge from a company I won't provide with a free advertizement. Put the sensors into water pressure ports. Works acceptably well showing cooling water temps. Apparently, the motor (j115plsor) has a blind hole in each head that also looks like 1/8 NPT. I wonder if that's...

    2005 J115PLSOR weird oil leak

Probably not, the block is clean all the way down. The seal and driveshaft are right there, and there seems to be just enough of an opening for the spinning shaft to sling gunk around.

    2005 J115PLSOR weird oil leak

I'd rather have it come off than have the crank seal blown.

    2005 J115PLSOR weird oil leak

It IS, if it (partially) fills with liquid.

    2005 J115PLSOR weird oil leak

Fair enough, I was keeping it under 3K per break-in instructions. I do suspect I have excessive crankcase pressure issues, because recirc hose kept popping off

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

By way of an update, replaced reeds with Boyesens (and also replaced primer gasket). That cured most of the problems described here. Smoke is down to acceptable levels.

    2005 J115PLSOR weird oil leak

It does feel like half-evaporated 2-stroke mix. Except that it almost looks like it's coming out of the bottom of the crank - everything above the exhaust housing spacer is nice and dry. Combined with the fact that I see more oil/fuel in exhaust than I am comfortable with, I wonder if fuel pools...

    2005 J115PLSOR weird oil leak

It's just that, one, there is nowhere for the stuff to come from but the crankcase (and if it does, why it is pooling in there?), and two, I can't see where it's coming from - between the powerhead and midsection?

    2005 J115PLSOR weird oil leak

Where is that stuff possibly coming from? Fuel system is tight all the way up to carbs, floats set right (I think - manual calls for 1 1/16...1 1/8in or 17... 28 mm (sic) drop). Does not look like fresh fuel anyway; more like 2-stroke like mix that's been sitting for a while. Thoughts? Thank y'all!

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

Stupid saga continues. Looks like someone has been messing with reeds, because one of the shims is missing. I wonder if they have already been flipped, because the tip seems to lie flat against the reed block, but the mid-section shows a gap.

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

I am at the end of my rope, because this is the only thing in intake I did not mess with (OK, primer, but that should not blow the connector lines off) - and I am pretty confident in the carbs.

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

Pulled the reed blocks. Reeds look OK (no obvious wear), but if I shine a light down intake, there are visible gaps - not very consistent petal to petal. Thoughts? Thanks!

    2005 J115PLSOR intake overpressure/raw gas?

So I was misinformed on that; fuel IS supposed to flow aft (so that bearings stay lubed even if one of the carbs runs lean, I imagine?), and check valves are operational. But what could possibly cause overpressure that blew the lines off?
