    Actually checked a Mercury outboard website and according to Merc the oil injection system was incorporated in the late 80's then well into the mid nineties. Very popular and had very few issues.

    Not on my 40 hp....serial number and title show 1992, if you look up that year and model, most all have oil injection. They were very popular because they actually produce closer to 45 hp than 40 hp.

    You should have one that can be deployed from the water, won't do much good if your in the lake and the ladder is up inside the boat. I have figured out a way to board my 16' by using the power tilt and trim. Not easy but very doable.
