    Starfish 12

It should have a HIN number as Brunswick acquired Starcraft in 1988. Therefor it was built after that from the capacity plate information.

    1969 Glassmaster 17' trihull

Appears to be the OMC "stringer" outdrive from the same year as the boat. Parts are hard to come by.

    Fuel system selector/shutoff valve

Is this on a twin engine boat? What is off to left? These valves are open when the handle is parallel to the valve body and off when at right angles.

98ish Evinrude 50 - high voltage reading on dash but not battery

That is why in the olden days ships carried three clocks for navigation purposes. If two agreed with each other they assumed the other one was wrong.

    Alternator failures

I just had to replace the alternator in one of my trucks after 175 thousand miles and this was packed with the replacement. I have no idea if your engine has an ECM but in my case the brown wire feeds the PCM and activates the warning light. The gray wire excites the field coils and duty...

    Alternator failures

Not saying this is your case but alternators can be damaged if the battery is disconnected while the engine is running. I would check the battery connections, cables, battery switch and the engine ground cable.

Mercury 20hp only getting 21mph normal?

At 4800 feet you would be putting out about 17 horsepower. That would give you a speed of around 24mph at sea level. Your speed doesn't sound that far off what would be expected. Get one of those 15 dollar induction tachs and once you get your speed/rpms you may find you could get a small...

Sea King Boat, What Year is it?

It looks like it was made by Starcraft, late 1950's or early 1960'. Do you have any paperwork or an old registration card?

Bayliner....no clearance to remove steering cable?

Depending on the size of the motor two people can slide it over enough depending on the width of your transom at the splash well. There is usually enough slack wiring and fuel line nothing needs to be disconnected. Connecting up the motor first and the helm second is usually better but not...

    Can't get flywheel off!!

The picture shows only 2 bolts being used, I take it you were using three. That puller looks pretty sturdy. As raceone said tighten all three bolts evenly and then rap the end of the puller. There is plenty of pull on the flywheel from the energy it took to stretch them when they are torqued...

    1974 mercury 115 in line 6

No. 100 ft lbs is the torque for the flywheel nut in the center. About 15 or so for those small ones.

    Speed of a 21ft Mariner

Just ran your new speed squared divided your old speed squared and the result is almost the same as you power increase. 140/90=1.55 2116/1406=1.50

    Speed of a 21ft Mariner

Boat speed vs power is not a a linear relationship. If so by increasing your power by 55% would result in a speed of about 58 mph. The truth is calculating speed vs power for a planing hull is very complicated depending on a lot of factors. Even the wind resistance force is quadratic meaning...

Lund 14 DX and Merc 25 sluggish

I run an almost identical boat (Crestliner 14) with a Tohatsu 30 hp witch is a little more power and a 9.9 inch by 13 pitch prop for a top end of about 30 mph. With my old prop witch was a 12p it would over rev by 150 rpm with only my self on board. Just a guess but if your motor is working ok...

Johnson 115hp Need to lift motor off transom to install steering cable...Questions!

It will balance better all the way down if you are going to just slide it over. Jack up the trailer or pull the wheels up on a couple of wood blocks. Did the cables on my1990 tracker nitro a few years ago and just had to slide it over a bit. 175 hp and I moved it by myself without a lift...

Do you currently have possession of the boat and a bill of sale? Also the previous owners name, registration, or other documents? What state did the boat come from and do you reside in that state or another? If it came with a trailer same questions. With this information I am sure that someone...
