    I will second the what engine are you thinking swapping from a 3.0 to a 4.3 or 5.0 or 5.7 can be done. however needs to have a bunch of other parts swapped as well. heading to a junk yard to buy any run-of-the-mill motor wont work. it has to be a marinized motor.

    You visually inspect the gaskets and gasket surface between the two, and you fill the manifold with acetone (seeps thru smaller cracks) However if you boat in salt water, expect about 5-7 years max on the life of a manifold
