    Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... a simple way to go would be to use abit longer bolt holding the winch, 'n put a length of chain on the bottom of it, 'n a hook to slip onto the bow eye,.... You'd need a longer bolt, 2 nuts, the chain, 'n the hook,.....

    Ayuh,...... Isolate the block, 'n pressure test it with 'bout 15psi of air,... If the head, or block is cracked, you'll hear it, then follow the sound,....

    Ayuh,...... No way I'd spend $600. for a new cap,..... Working on the bench, tap for the helicoil/ thread-sert, clean everything up, 'n slather it with Perfect Seal, 'n send it home,... Then clean it all up again, 'n reinstall the cap,....

    Ayuh,....... I don't have an ole carb laying around, 'n sellin' or buyin' ain't allowed in the forums, anyways,....... Others will know where to look for what you need,.... No chance of rebuildin' the old one,..??..?? I'm guessing you have an ole MC-1 drive, as I believe the MC-0 predates...

    1989 2.5L (not 3.0) mercruiser crankshaft pulley

    Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.... The 2.5l doesn't have a harmonic balancer,(the 3.0l does, the 2.5l has just a pulley) so my guess is the rubber you found came from the v-belt itself,..... Are the pulleys clean, 'n smooth, or rusty,..?? ditto what cwella just posted, while I was typing,....

    Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... Start at the battery, check, 'n clean the connections, both ends of both(+, 'n -) sides,.... If the starter engages, try starting it,.... If not, break out the test light, 'n figure out where the power stops,......

    Ayuh,...... With numbers like that, you have a rebuildable core, not a viable runner,........ A new/ rebuilt motor will be 'bout 150 psi across the board,....

    Ayuh,..... If yer still running the original trim pump, you need the reverse lock,..... Otherwise, anymore than idle in reverse the drive jumps up high,...... I switched to a newer plastic tanked pump, which has a built-in reverse lock,....

    Ayuh,..... I agree with BD on the cause,..... I'd just use rags to do the clean up, 'n the gimble bearing, Could be greaseable, or sealed,.... donno which, both have been around for awhile,.....
