    Correction: my bad experience with the parts counter happened at the Honda dealer. I let him verify my part numbers then he sold me the wrong filters. He blamed it on Honda’s parts system. Yamaha hasn’t been a problem.

    I didn’t know that. The database is a little suspect anyway, either that or a local dealer has no clue how to look up parts. I tend to fare better if I walk in with the part numbers than I do giving them the serial number.

    I use petrolatum or the fluid the o-ring will be exposed (gasoline isn’t a good lube) to on nearly every o-ring I install. Oil and gas wash away any excess without any harm to anything or fear of plugging any passages. Lubricated o-rings have less of a tendency to get pinched or rolled/twisted.

    I agree with it being a material defect. I like to follow the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mantra so I wouldn’t mess with it as long as it isn’t leaking. A welder could run a bead along it which could be ground and polished so it doesn’t show much.

    In a duplicate thread I qualified my response with none I have worked are salt water motors. The 2011 here is a TXR so once again I will repeat, part numbers must be checked against the serial number. It not enough to google “yamaha Fxxx fuel filter”.

    Must know the correct part number for the model and serial number before ordering anything. The parts diagrams are available for free all over the internet. That link lists the F150. I have worked on the 2011 and newer F150’s for the last 5 years and have yet to see that filter.
