    I pulled the exhaust off a Mercruiser a couple of years ago. There was zero chance the sand packed in there was coming out by flushing alone. It would take more water and pressure than the sea water pump can muster. A garden hose can’t move that much water.

    The listing linked shows the F150 but I haven’t seen that filter on any of the ones I have worked (none are saltwater). Does the part number on the listing match the OEM part number you need? Parts diagrams are generally available online for free if you don’t know the correct part number.

    If you go past the power curve you waste fuel. I see with my boat, my truck and my airplane. Staying on top of the power curve will cost speed but save fuel. I haven’t crunched the numbers for the Yamaha F70 but my truck gets 15-17 mpg at 75 mph, 20-21 at 65 mph. The boat acts the same way.

    If water can get in then oil can come out, especially if there is enough water is getting in to push the oil out. I pulled a gear case a couple of years ago because of an oil slick in the slip. The gear case had way more water in it than oil and was floating oil out a bad seal on a top fill plug.

    The only fuel filter I can think of on a Mercury 150 EFI isn’t visible. It’s accessible via yellow handle on the right side of the power head. PITA. It uses press-to-connect connections which helps with installation but can be a challenge to disconnect, especially the outlet hose.

    This kind of reminds me of an issue we had on a 150 EFI a few years ago. It took someone really good with the diagnostic computer to identify the throttle position sensor as the culprit. He tried to walk me through the numbers and their relationships on the screen but I wasn’t tracking any of it.
