What's the best concert you've been to?

Tough call. AC/DC Blow Up Your Video tour was pretty good but so was Guns and Roses opening for Aerosmith. Hard to discount the Brooks and Dunn Neon Circus too. Johny Cash, Alabama, Van Halen, Santana, White Snake… we attended a lot of concerts when it was just $20 a ticket for decent seats. All...

    Intermittent starting

Battery is not a bad guess but I have never seen an intermittent battery. It will be a connection issue of some sort and it will be something both motors have in common unless there are 2 identical problems on both motors. I once owned a 1974 Cherokee. It was having some intermittent starting...

    Artificial Intelligence

I called AI out on a bogus answer the other day. It apologized for providing an “absurd” answer and found the correct answer for me. I was a bit stunned.

    Intermittent starting

Does it crank, not crank, click, solenoid rattle…? Guessing from your post that it isn’t getting consistent power to the starters but it’s just a guess. If that is correct, has there been any troubleshooting with a multimeter when it is acting up? Does it seem to happen more when the ambient or...

    Nobody fishing?

I am quite possibly walking into the very same situation. We had planned to build but decided that wasn’t feasible. Now under contract to buy a house on a village lot a quarter mile from our 9 acre build sight. I still hope to build my shop out there… possibly a hangar for the Cub.

Tools that younger people would not recognize.

That sounds about like my F150 but it’s a V8(4.6L) so 16 spark plugs instead of 12 to get 245K miles. Pulling heavy loads long distances this summer so I invested in a way to keep an eye on the transmission temp and will be changing oil a little more frequently until finished.

Tools that younger people would not recognize.

I just threw out a bunch of 3.5” discs because I didn’t think I had a way access them. A couple days later I found a drive for them. I also found my first digital camera. It takes 3.5” discs too.

    Nobody fishing?

Me too. I turn mine off if noise factors into what I am doing. I remember when you couldn’t get called unless you were home or at work. We got along just fine.

    deck waterproofing

We went with a patio too. We get taxed for the square footage of steps or/and decks in addition to all ground covered by a roof to include a small awning over the door of an outbuilding but the county ignores concrete.

Advice on Buying a Jon Boat

I would jack the trailer and spin the wheels. Having bearing buddies does not mean they have ever seen a grease gun or the owner ever checked his bearings. In fact, I am more suspicious of bearings behind bearing buddies because a lot of people believe having them means they never have to pull a...

Water pump rebuild after 11 years and 600 hours

I like the OP has a good way to monitor water pump health without disassembling the lower unit. Some manufacturers say to replace the impeller after so many hours/years, whichever happens first but some just say inspect and replace as needed after some many hours/years. I am replacing parts if...

Pontoon Questions: Jacking it up while on trailer? & What's this called?

This is something I have done a few times to repair trailers and/or give the welder access for repairs on the tubes. I was brought one boat where the majority of the bunk was pushed out at an angle from the tube. Only the front lag bolt was holding it. As stated by others, stay on the seams if...

why I still prefer gauges in my cars

Bad idea unless only going a couple of miles. I burned up an engine when I was in my early twenties trying to limp a hose with a pin hole in it 50+ miles home with a loose cap and stopping at every exit to fill with water. The engine got so hot it quit and you couldn’t stand next to it with the...

How To Remove This Prop Help Needed

Yeah, it could be pretty tight, doubly so if just grunted on. Also, if the hub is truly spun, a block of wood holding a blade may not hold good enough to break the nut loose.

BAT 1, BAT 2, ALL Switch

I just checked the specs on the bluetop. It’s actually a dual purpose deep cycle battery. 800 CCA so plenty of the correct power to use as a starting battery.

BAT 1, BAT 2, ALL Switch

I’ve been starting my 70hp with a deep cycle for a few years. Current start battery is an Optima Blue Top. It was my trolling motor battery. It became the start battery when I installed the 24v trolling motor.

BAT 1, BAT 2, ALL Switch

Batteries should be matched if they are permanently tied together. Same age, type, size and capacity. A lead acid “start” battery should never be connected to a lead acid deep cycle trolling battery except to jump start. They tend to balance themselves to the weakest battery. I have never seen...

BAT 1, BAT 2, ALL Switch

I will help you read it. Every boat I have had until recently had trolling motor battery and a start battery. “Recent upgrade to a 24v trolling motor was a nonissue because the boat and trolling motor have always been completely separate.” I know there are 24v batteries out there but most people...

Best way to fasten bow rails?

It had been cracked for a while but probably not readily visible when installed without close inspection.
