    150 EFI low oil pressure

Again, There were no saved faults nor active faults on the techmate. It’s not some random toy I picked up for a one time use. As far as the control goes, if that button is the problem, it can go back to the dealer. I would think it would still be under warranty. Judging from what I have seen...

    Removing water from gas

Alcohol absorbs water. Doing what you suggest puts more water in the fuel. Putting some water and some fuel in a clear container, marking the line where the two meet, shaking the container and letting it settle will lower the water line indicating alcohol in the fuel if there is alcohol present...

This doesn’t look right to me

Mercury 150 EFI. It looks like I have a proper hub kit for it. The nut was loose. Not so the prop rattled but nowhere near the 55.3 lbs feet the book calls for. This boat would have been delivered this way from the store. The same store that I complain about the most.

This doesn’t look right to me

It sure seems like there should be a cotter pin or tab washer on that shaft.

    150 EFI low oil pressure

Here is the picture. Typical ski boat looking control. The center does not push in or it is locked up hard. It doesn’t feel or look like it is meant to. I think it is a 2023 Sea Ray. I don’t have the owners manual. Not my boat. Just one I do light maint on.

    Removing water from gas

I have poured gas off the top of water and I have sucked the water out from under the gas. Make sure the syphon hose is in the lowest point of the tank if sucking the water out and stop when you start getting all gas. I never had a problem with either. Mower won’t care as long as there isn’t any...

best way to carry gas to the dock

We were using eight 30 gallon caddies. We loaded them on a lawn mower trailer when we couldn’t ferry fuel from the marina with a pontoon boat.

    150 EFI low oil pressure

I checked it with TechMate Pro. Not the best scanner available but it should show all current and stored codes on the motor. There were none. It just concerned me that such serious alarm would not store a code. Intermittent problems are a pain to troubleshoot unless it can be forced to duplicate.

    150 EFI low oil pressure

Shouldn’t it throw and save a code if it trips an alarm?

    prop nut tightening

I have removed several prop nuts with my fingers that were installed by people who didn’t see the need for a torque wrench. The prop rattling on the shaft. The last one was installed by a dealership. Some manufacturers have a range where something like 50 pound feet is a minimum and around 90...

    150 EFI low oil pressure

I will try to remember to take a picture when I go back. I think it looks like a standard side mount ski boat control. I was just notified the low pressure warning came back on so I may be back down there Tuesday to run the boat on the lake to see if I can duplicate it. Or I may just tell them...

    prop nut tightening

Never needed anything bigger than a 2x4. I keep a piece about 6” long in my truck just for removing and installing props on the dock.

    150 EFI low oil pressure

I received the attached photo last night. I went out this morning and everything checks out… plenty of oil, no stored codes, and good oil pressure that climbs with throttle. The only thing not checked was a higher power setting because it was on a lift in a slip. Boat and motor are 2 years old...

View of unloaded trailer with pickups

My wife’s car has a backup camera. I almost never look at the screen. When we load the car she’s always worried about me being able to see out the back window. I tell her “that’s why we have side mirrors”. I only thing I can image a camera doing for me in my pickup is what my wife can’t seem...

removing a pontoon off the trailer on land

What would you hook to on the boat? There isn’t much on a pontoon boat design to handle that kind of stress. I saw a video on reels the other day. The rear cap was ripped off one tube. The only thing I could think of for a cause is they hooked a tube to it.

removing a pontoon off the trailer on land

It’s bad to drop the wheels off anything hard. I ruined a wheel, tire and fender at a washed out boat ramp one year loading a pontoon boat.

    Nobody fishing?

The bones are why I only fillet fish. I don’t clean fish I can’t get boneless fillets from.

    Nobody fishing?

I used to do some fillets on the grill. Raw fish wrapped in foil with the seasoning you like. Can be done in the oven that way too. Really, I don’t see how it is cut has much to do with how it is cooked. Wife breads and bakes some. I do prefer fried but nearly everything tastes better fried.

    Nobody fishing?

Dad skins his catfish and I seem to recall watching him scale fish when I was a kid but I have never scaled or skinned a fish. Just fillets for the 45+ years I have been allowed to play with knives. Bluegill taste good but not much meat on them. Bass give good fillets but you never hear of...

best muffs to use on mercruisers?

I just tank it using a large tote. I did have to build a 2x4 frame around the top to keep the weight of the water from deforming the tote.
