Bilge Plug & bilge pump placement

Why not us a hose and let the pump empty the water overboard then their us no issue. Having the pump put water in the bilge then have to empty that bilge seems like extra work for nothing.

    Intermittent starting

Full charge on each battery means 12.6v minimum ! Have you done a load test? Batteries can show full charge with no load, then fail when a load is put on them. Load test needed for sure.

    Bald Face Hornets

If it has never been sprayed with chemicals, they may want it to make medicine for those with serious allergies. In my area, they will remove for free if the nest tests free from chemicals.

    Garmin Striker shutting down

Most boaters use onebattery for starting purpose only, then another deep cycle as a house battery to run everything else. This way you always have starting power. Unless the motor is fairly small, the heavy draw of starting can shorten the life of a deep cycle battery.

    Building a fishing boat.

No headlights while running, can be used as an on off light for docking or a quick flash on to see objects floating while going slow. According to my DNR guy the hand held as long as it isn't left on. Fixed headlamps on while underway is a big no no....

West Marine going out of business... and I can't think of anything I need!

While what you stated is true, my comment was in reference to folks buying off Amazon and not supporting their local businesses. When sales are few and far between prices have to be higher to keep up with overhead..I always try to buy local even if it means spending a little more. The...

    Best Deep Cell Marine Batteries

Letting batteries drop to low and not recharging them quickly are the main reason for battery fails. Solar panels work well when batteries just need topped off, but if batteries are dropped very low, the solar may not get the charge back up quick enough and cause some harm to the battery life...

West Marine going out of business... and I can't think of anything I need!

Anyone watching had to know this was comming. Hardly any stock, and much of their stock was old, at least in our area. Prices were high with only a few exceptions. When I upgraded my winch, they had the best price by far but the box was old as a dinosoar. To many buying foreign junk off Amazon.

How big is the " family". ...are they big people or small people? Type of water is critical. Smooth inland lakes or choppy water where the wind and make chop? I am a fan of two stroke motors, simple, easy to repair if needed but like anything they need proper maintenence..

    Solar chargi g

A fully charged battery should maintain that charge for at least a month and while it may drop a little, it should hold enough charge to operate everything for at least two months. 12.7 v is a full charge...12.4 is half charge but still enough to get the job done. Below 12.2v is low but will...
