The charge coil on the timer base fires both cylinders.--And the sensor coil on the timer base fires both cylinders.

Throw a good anchor in the water and winch it off the trailer at the water's edge ???----Any pictures to show what the challenge is ?

Automotive engines are rarely asked to perform at full throttle / maximum power output for long periods of time.----The outboard is also subjected to " wave action " on the boat.----That can put high loads on the oil film between parts.

A car engine may be capable of 280 HP.-----But it does not need near that output to move a car on a level road.----Put that car in neutral at 50 MPH and see how far it coasts.----Now try that with the boat.

Rectifier is not needed to make the spark.---The 12 volt battery is NOT involved in making the spark.-----The FAST spinning flywheel magneto generates spark.----First load test the battery.----Then inspect the starter motor.----Compression should be around 120 PSI +

How much power does a car engine produce when cruising 50 MPH ( 80 KMH ) when cruising on a level road ?----Compare that to a 18' boat at 50 MPH.

Oil is NOT all the same.

Easy fix with some wedges or shimming.

Agreed,----I used to go to a launch ramp over 50 years ago.----Good entertainment and occasionally helped folks with proper starting procedures.

Run with cowling off.---Squirt some extra oil into carburetor.----May help pinpoint a leak.

Agreed, on more than one occasion, have folks offered help to retrieve my boats.---I politely declined.----I just submerge last roller and start boat up the trailer.----Boat lines itself up.-----Then back up the trailer a few feet if winching becomes hard.---Never an issue that way.

Used the " trailer on a rope " myself to launch a 20' CYGNUS with fixed keel.----It did draw a small crowd.--Used to launch my 30' Wellcraft with 2 wheel drive.----So if there is a good ramp , 2 wheel drive is fine.
