Fuel Gauge Woes. Help needed please.

Sounds like a wiring problem. The sender does not ever get voltage applied to it. The sender changes resistance to ground, as the tank empties during use. Check to make sure the power (+12VDC) and ground to the gauge are good. Check resistance from ground at the gauge to the sender wire at...

    Question on cap removal

Make sure the hull under the waterline at planning speed is straight, length and width wise. Plastic lumber may be straighter than wood, on it's edge. Maybe you could line the wood with the plastic stuff. When the boat was built, the entire hull was in a precise mold. The stringers and...

    Question on cap removal

You could suspend 2X6s from bow to stern from the scaffolds and loop the rachet straps around the 2X6s to provide as much support to the length of the cap, as you need. The real hard part will be truing up the hull. You will want a cradle with nice straight supports to eliminate any hook in...

Is there such a thing as peeing too hard?

Not exactly true. Telltales clog all the time, but the volume thru them is very small, so cooling is not affected if just the telltale is clogged. The telltale is only an indicator that the waterpump is working. It does not tell the amount of water the waterpump is pumping. Specifically, if...

    35hp choke linkage hookup?

The choke linkages were mostly the same on the inline motors of that vintage. I think the stud that holds the plastic grating also holds the spring end.

    Question on cap removal

Gee, put the boat back on the trailer. Build two "hangmans scaffolds" to support the cap. Use 4X4 posts and double 2x8 for the headers. Install 2 or more block and tackles or come-a-longs to lift the cap. Pull the trailer out.

    Mercruiser motor swap

Gee I went out with a friend in his 18 footer with a 3.0 MerCruiser. It's vibration reminded me of those 90's 4 cylinder inline motors in small cars. It handled the boat OK. I had a similar boat with s 4.3LX. It was much smoother and much more powerful.

My carb is obsolete.. Please help me repair/replace!

Gee the first carb I saw clogged with varnish was in the fifty's. This was way before adding alcohol to gas was thought of. we also needed to add dry gas alcohol) to fuel tanks to absorb the water in winter. Today's fuel with alcohol eliminates a lot of that.

That motor likely requires a FC-W oil. Any oil rated as such is acceptable. Automotive multivis oils are generally not recommended.
